YOUR POV

I see Mona on the floor. She's straddling Allison, strangling her. I feel as if I'm frozen in place.

A scream rings through the air as Allison's body goes limp. My throat aches. Was that my scream?

This whole experience feels like it's not me. My eyes feel as if they're watching from another body. Nothing feels real anymore.

My vision starts to fade. My legs feel as if they're jello. A strong pair of arms wrap around my waist from behind as my senses fade. Everything goes dark.

DETECTIVE CROFFMAN POV

"Who does the DNA match up to?" I ask.

"Sir, it's going to sound very strange." The Forensics team leader says.

"Spit it out already!" I snap.

"The DNA matches up to Y/N L/N."

"Her... Daughter? The one that went missing?" My eyes widen in shock.

"Yes. Which means that Y/N is not being held captive if she could kill her mother." The short, stubby woman informs me.

"Wait, wait, wait. We aren't sure that Y/N is the killer." I backtrack.

"Well, sir, that's the only plausible explanation we have as of right now." Her brown eyes are clearly looking at me as if I'm stupid.

"That's not plausible at all! We need to do more investigating." I huff.

"How?! We don't have Miss Y/N to ask! And we probably never will!" She snaps at me.

"Well that sounds like we need to find her. If her mother was in the creek, that means that she's still in town." I think aloud.

I end the conversation and go to my office. Detective Hark is waiting. I scoff. I really wanted some alone time.

"What do you want?" I don't even try to hide the annoyance in my tone.

"I heard that the DNA matches up to Y/N." She cuts right to the chase.

"Were you eavesdropping, Hark?" I glare at her.

"Maybe. But I want in on the case." She doesn't break eye contact.

"In on the case? No. I can handle it myself." I sit down in my chair.

"Croffman, this is the case of a lifetime!" She starts.

"Yeah, and it was assigned to me. You're a newbie! You will be useless!" I slam my fist down on the desk. She flinches.

"Why would Y/N kill her mother anyway?!" She gets frustrated.

"I don't know." I lie.

"You're lying, Croffman." She glares at me.

"No I'm not." I lie again.

"You can't lie to a detective!" She scans my body language.

"Fine! I was in a relationship with Y/N's mother in our teen years!" I admit.

"Why didn't you say this sooner?!" She her eyes widen and her jaw drops in shock.

"Because... She was very abusive to Y/N. And I won't forgive myself for not doing anything." I sigh.

"Croffman... You know something about this case that you're not letting on." She eyes me very closely.

AMIR'S POV

I see Mona strangling Allison. Allison falls limp and stops moving.

'Geez this is going to add more stress on Y/N. But now... Mona is just like me. A killer. Maybe Y/N will see that too." I think to myself.

I catch Y/N as she starts to faint. I lay her down on my bed carefully. I cover her up with the blanket to make sure she isn't cold.

"Julian, go take her body back to headquarters. Mom will give her a funeral." I instruct.

"Aww but I want to stay with the pretty girl." He whines playfully.

"You're lucky it's not you being buried for being snuggled up with Y/N like that!" I snap at him.

"Ugh, you're no fun." Julian rolls his eyes.

"Don't make me change my mind and put you 6 feet under too." I threaten.

"As if! Okay, okay, chill. Me and Y/N had enough fun time alone." He smirks as he picks Allison's body up and walks to his car.

He leaves me seething. I swear if he even touched her like that, we're going to have another body on our hands.

I sigh and sit down by Y/N. I pull her into my arms. I stroke her soft, H/C hair. My head naturally gravitates towards hers, my nose inhaling the sweet scent of her shampoo.

I wait for her to wake up. My eyes shift over to the corner of the room, where Mona is sitting there clutching her knees to her chest, staring blankly.

The sight of her expression brings back memories. Memories of the first time I killed someone. My first assassin mission. I sat on the floor of my room exactly like that.

"Mona," I find my voice speaking against my will. She doesn't respond. "Thank you."

Her head immediately pops up. It seems that her mind comes back to her. She looks at me from the floor.

"... For what?" She finally asks.

"Allison was trying to hurt Y/N. You stopped her. You did the right thing." I tell her.

"I know. I would do it again." She says. This surprises me.

"You would?" I ask.

"For Y/N." She nods.

"Perhaps you and I aren't so different, Mona," I shift my gaze back to Y/N as I speak. "You liked the adrenaline rush of taking a life, didn't you?" I suspect.

"... Yeah." She responds.

NOOO NOT MY BABY MONAAAA

Amir fun fact of the chapter: He is more of a night owl than a morning bird. He of course can wake up early do get things done, but he prefers the late hours.
