Chapter 7

Hot shot was awake this morning. His hair had been falling out the couple of days. This morning when Hot shot woke up and he looked in the mirror. He saw he was completely and totally bald. He saw his eyebrows and eyelashes were gone too. Hot shot knew there was a chance that he was going to be completely bald so he felt okay. Hot shot came out and saw his parents. "Good morning," Hot shot said.

"Well I see your hair has completely fallen out," Heatwave said looking at Hot shot.

"How do you feel about it?' Quickshadow asked.

"I feel a bit different about it, but okay, but I think I will get used to it," Hot shot said.

"You will get used to it poppet," Quickshadow said. "It will take sometime but you will get used to it," she said.

Fireplug whined and sniffed at Hot shot and started to lick him. "I'm okay Fireplug," Hot shot said.

"Come Hot shot eat your breakfast and get ready you have more treatment today," Quickshadow said.

"Yes mummy," Hot shot said. Hot shot ate his breakfast and got ready to go. Hot shot went to his treatment like he did every single day except for the weekends.

Hot shot was very busy with his treatments as the days went by. Hot shot was feeling very tired and he really didn't know why. "I am so tired all the time," Hot shot said. "I don't like it," he said.

"Well Hot shot it is normal to be tired all the time during cancer treatment," Quickshadow said. "Here is a video about it from the imaginary friend society." she said.

Hot shot watched the video and found out that cancer treatment makes you tired. He learned it it not your normal everyday tired. It is a tired that makes you feel stuck, with no power, and can't wind yourself back up. Hot shot learned that while he cannot run and play like he is used to doing he can do other things. Such as listen to music, make arts and crafts or read a good story. Hot shot learned once he feels like doing more he can but for no focus on less physical stuff because it can be pretty fun too! Hot shot felt better now understanding why he was so tired.

Hot shot was at home playing with Fireplug when his mother got a call from Dr. Zhao. "Yes," Quickshadow said. "I see so Hot shot needs to stay at the hospital for a while I understand," she said. "For four months? I understand," she said. "Yes we will get ready for it," she said. "Okay bye," she said. Quickshadow came up to Hot shot. "Hot shot you need to stay in the hospital for a while," she said. "So we need to get ready to go by packing a few things," she said.

Hot shot watched a video about long hospital stays from the imaginary friend society. Hot shot learned that he can make his stay feel more comfortable. He learned he should bring things to do, such as his tablet, books, games, music, movies, and videos. He should also bring things to make the room more comfy such as his pillow, blanket, toys, comfy clothes, pictures of loved ones, and a hobby. Hot shot learned that the hospital will help take care of him and the people there are good at what they do. They will do everything from not only treating him, clean his room, and make his bed. Hot shot learned that a hospital stay isn't so bad. Hot shot felt less scared about a long stay in the hospital. But he was going to miss his home and Fireplug.

Hot shot was helping his parents pack a few things. He was going to be leaving first thing in the morning. Heatwave was going to be at work so his mother was going to with him.

The next morning Hot shot woke up bright and early. Hot shot grabbed Roxy the rhino after getting dressed and was ready to go. Quickshadow grabbed Hot shot's bag and they went to the car and got inside. Hot shot was all buckled up in his car seat and ready to go. Hot shot was going to be very brave during his hospital stay.

Upon arriving at the hospital they went to the admission desk and Hot shot got admitted to the hospital. Then Hot shot got a bracelet that had his name on it. "It is so everyone knows who you are Hot shot," a nurse told him.

"Okay," Hot shot said. Hot shot was glad he had this bracelet to help other's know who he is. Hot shot was ready to go to his hospital room.

Hot shot helped his mother unpack the bag and helped her get him settled. Then once everything was all in place. They were now ready. Hot shot was now getting settled into his bed so he could watch some videos on his tablet.

Hot shot saw Dr. Zhao come in. "Hello Hot shot," Dr. Zhao said.

"Hi Dr. Zhao," Hot shot said.

"How are you feeling today?" Dr. Zhao asked.

"I am feeling okay," Hot shot said.

"You will be here for some time you will even spend Christmas in the hospital," Dr. Zhao said. "But this will help us help you get better," she said.

"Okay," Hot shot said. Hot shot didn't like the fact that he had to stay there for so long. But he was looking forward to getting better.

Hot shot had a lot of tests to do that day. Hot shot was approached by Roxy later that day. Quickshadow was with him and smiled at Roxy.

"Hot shot qualifies for a wish from Make a wish," Roxy said.

"Good that will make him happy and give him something to look forward too," Quickshadow said. "It will help him forget about what he is going through," she said.

"Wish?" Hot shot asked.

"Yes you can wish to be something, wish to go somewhere, wish to meet someone, wish to have something or wish to give back," Roxy said. "Soon a wish coordinator will call you because I just sent in the paperwork so you have time to decide on a wish," she said.

"Cool," Hot shot said.

Hot shot was now settled in for a long hospital stay and ready to be brave.
