Kaylaya POV

It felt like mere minutes, yet mere hours by the time Cato comes back. He I've notcied always opens the door slowly, as if not trying to startle me, always peeking in first before he slides his body in.

Like I might've snapped or something while he was gone. I want to ask but I don't want to fraustrate him or anything. I also don't feel like talking lately anyways. When he comes back, it wasn't just him.

Evangeline was with him. Her curly hair tied into an intricate knot on top of her head, she looks beaten up, though... everyone here does. All fought. All recovering. She seems to be examining me before she glances at Cato then me. " You haven't left this room."

I simply blink in acknowledgement making her sigh as she comes closer, " I have news for you. Some I think will please all to many people here." She comes to sit on the edge of the bed adjusting her shirt as she still seems to examine me. " The Snow's will be trialed at the end of the week. They're going to charge them with ton of shit ofcourse. Death penalty."

This sparks my attention, " All of them?"

" See... That Coin didn't exactly give an answer to. Shocker. But they'll all be tried." Evie answers. " Snow and Kieran did the most.. Celeste..." She shrugs, " Sure she was involved but I don't think she's done anything."

" Neffy sent her to 4 when I got attacked. Sent both Odairs back here to court. Even locked up here I didn't see to much of her."

" Guilty by association." Cato adds coming to sit on the opposite side of me setting down the infact watery soup. He puts an arm around my waist gently tracing circles on my hip. " I'm sure if Coin can kill them all she will. End the bloodline... So if there's anyone left out there they won't have the same spark of rebellion we had."

It makes sense what Cato was saying... And Coin would do that. She just not secured a position I feel like she was simply handed above ground. Evie leans back cocking her head, " Good point." Again she looks my way. " Everyone is missing you, you know."

" If they miss me so much why don't they come here to visit?" I retort back.

She shakes her head. " We all need our safe spaces here... No one wants to over step. We've all...lost." She swallows taking a small breath. " I'm sorry about Macy."

I feel the lump crowding in my throat once more as I curtly nod. " Yea. Me too."

" You expect the ones you fight with to die. Not the ones back in 13.... And she was always nice.. Coming from 12 to 2 when I trained..." I hear her voice crack as my eyes dart to hers as she blinks back tears. " It damn well sucks."

When Evie was training, when she wasn't with Fero she was with us girls. She deserves to grieve too. That set the spark in me to get up from the bed going beside her wrapping her in an embrace. It feels foreign considering everything that's happen. I felt like we've drifted.

But she was still my tribute. My first tribute. My friend.
