The year is 1924. You live in the city of New York City, New York with your mother Belinda, your father Victor and your elder sister Rebecca. You're a nine-year-old girl named (Y/N) (L/N). You live in a two-bedroom townhouse with your family. You share a room with your sister. Your sister Rebecca is sixteen years old.

When it comes to your guys' father Victor, he seems to favor you over your sister. He'll scold her over a few things and they'll argue with each other. You however... He tells you he loves you or that you're his little princess. Your mom seems to love you both, but your dad seems to keep you away from her all the time. Like he won't leave you alone with her. He will Rebecca, but not you.

Rebecca had turned to a life of crime behind your parents' backs. Only you knew, but you never told your parents. You loved your sister. She thanked you for having her back. She's involved with a notorious gang there in the city of New York known as the Butcher Gang. She's told you about them numerous times, but you've never met them.

Right now, you're both in your room. Your radio is on. It is slightly new with it being the mid 20s. Your dad spoiled you quite a bit. He got you the recent model. You loved the thing and you couldn't stop listening to the music on it.

You're sitting right in front of your radio as you hear the song Lady, Be Good by Fred Astaire/George Gershwin

You're sitting right in front of your radio as you hear the song Lady, Be Good by Fred Astaire/George Gershwin. You sigh and you smile. Rebecca is laying back on her bed, smoking a cigarette. You move your head a bit to the song.

Rebecca puffs her cigarette. She sits up and looks over at you saying, "Hey. (Y/N)." You look back at your sister and you say, "Yeah, sis?" She exhales the smoke and says, "Remember when I told you about the guys? The Butcher Gang?" You nod and you say, "Yeah. A lot of times. What about them?" She says, "I'm about to take you to meet them really soon."

You say, "You are?" She nods and says, "Yeah. I'm not hiding you from them. You're my sister. I..." You and Rebecca hear a loud knock on your door and you hear your dad yelling, "Rebecca! Get out here! Bring your sister!" Rebecca sighs and yells, "For what?!" She puffs her cigarette.

He yells, "Don't you get nitpicky with ME, missy! Just get out here with your sister! Hurry the hell up!" Rebecca yells, "Alright, alright!... Jesus fucking Christ!" She looks at you and says, "Come on, (Y/N)." You say, "Okay." You turn your radio off and you yell, "We're coming out now, daddy!" He more calmly says, "Alright, princess!"

Rebecca looks at you and she says, "The leader of the Butcher Gang wants to meet you. His name's Charley. It's Charley, Barley and Edgar. Edgar's still just a kid himself, but he's got quite a lot he did." You nod. Rebecca puts her cigarette out. You both leave your room.

You see your dad. Rebecca looks at him and says, "Dad." He just looks at her and says, "Rebecca." You say, "Hi, daddy." He looks down at you and he says, "Come here, you." He picks you up and he looks at you. He smiles and says, "Awe. There's daddy's little pride and joy. You hungry, princess?"

You say, "A little bit." He looks at Rebecca saying, "Fend for yourself. You're old enough." She says, "Yeah yeah. Whatever." She walks off. Your dad looks at you and says, "Let's see what we got in stores, huh?... Your mother better feed YOU, especially." You smile. He smiles and says, "My favorite little girl." He kisses you on the forehead and walks into the kitchen, taking you with him.

Rebecca's sitting at the kitchen table. Your mom's in front of the stove. Your dad says, "Better not burn (Y/N)'s food, you hear?" She says, "I-it's fine, dear. I've got the girls taken care of. Even her." He squints his eyes and he holds you close.

Rebecca is looking at a Cosmopolitan magazine and sitting back. Your dad sets you down and he says, "Sit at the table, honey." You say, "Okay, daddy." You sit next to Rebecca. Your dad sees the magazine in Rebecca's hand.

He walks over and he sees the front cover. He chuckles and says, "Look all ya want, Rebecca. Only one of you in this house has a chance to be like this in the future and it sure as hell ain't YOU."

He looks at you and he says, "(Y/N) however has a shot to being whatever she desires. The prettier child." Rebecca just rolls her eyes and continues looking at the magazine. She didn't care what your guys' dad said about HER. So long as she knew you at least had his love and respect.

After the food's done, your mom brings the food over. She gets Rebecca's first. Hers looks perfect. She says, "S-sorry, (Y/N) dear. Getting yours, now." She brings yours and yours looks slightly burnt.

But you still try to pick it up and eat it. Your dad notices this and he says, "Burned her food yet again, huh? I'll fix that." He trades plates with you and Rebecca. He says, "Better." Rebecca sighs and says, "Oh well." She eats her food. You eat yours. Rebecca thinks to herself, "At least my deadbeat of a father loves one of us. So long as (Y/N)'s getting the love, I'm alright with it."

Your dad looks at your mom and says, "Do you see this, Belinda? I just had to trade the quality of how you made the food because of your stupidness. Are you tryin' to poison my princess?" She says, "N-now look dear. I'm really trying here. Rebecca's the first child I've spotted." He growls and says, "That's a bunch of bullshit to me. In fact. (Y/N)... stop, honey."

You look at your dad and you say, "What's wrong, daddy?" He gets up and picks you up. He looks at your mom and sister and he says, "You two enjoy this crap. I'm takin' (Y/N) with me for something better. Good luck." He walks out and takes you with him. Rebecca sighs and says, "I worry about (Y/N), sometimes."

Your guys' mom walks to her and puts her hand on her shoulder saying, "It's alright, dear... We have each other. (Y/N) will be alright." Rebecca looks at her and says, "Yeah. Alright." Your mom smiles and nods saying, "I love you so much, dear." She moves away. Rebecca finishes her dinner.
