Later on at night, you're upstairs with Rebecca in your guys' room. Not the first time you share a room since you've shared a room with her your whole life. The lights are out. You don't even have the radio on. You're both laying on the bed and crickets can be heard chirping outside.
You say, "Sis." She says, "Yeah, (Y/N)?" You say, "What's Carley like? I've never met her." She says, "She's an interesting crook. As soon as we get her out, we'll be a full gang, again. The cops went easier on her because she's a woman."
You say, "Question." She says, "What is it?" You say, "They say it's a man's world, right?" She says, "Yeah. They do. What about it?" You say, "If it's a man's world, then why are they so delicate with women and harder on men? I'm just wondering."
She says, "Because women are made more delicate. That's how it is, (Y/N). Even Charley himself has no intention on harming a female and he's the Butcher Gang leader. Extremely dangerous to others here in New York. Apparently, men are created to be physically stronger. Think of it as a good thing."
You say, "Yeah, okay. But don't they usually slap a woman in movies for misbehaving?" She says, "Yeah. That's the only time it happens. Movies and real life. But some men out there... They treat their women a lot worse. Actually, beat them. Shiner on their eyes and all. Breaking things in the house. And for no reason, at all if the woman makes even the slightest mistake. Domestic abuse."
You say, "I'd hate to be in a relationship like that. I'm glad to know Charley's not like that with me." She says, "He never will be, no matter how much of a threat he is towards everyone else. His weakness... a female." You say, "Mine are children." She says, "As I could tell at the restaurant the other day." You say, "I can't bring myself around to harming a child."
You yawn and you say, "I just hope Carley's alright with me." She says, "She should be. You're MY little sister." You nod and you turn to the other side. You say, "Goodnight, sis." She says, "Goodnight, (Y/N)." You fall asleep for the rest of the night and so does she.
*****************************************************
The next day, you, Rebecca and the rest of the Butcher Gang are on your way to the women's prison to pick Carley up. She gets out, today and you're all getting her. Charley's driving. You're up front with him. Barley, Edgar and Rebecca are in the back.
As you drive down the road. The radio's playing Bugle Call Rag by Mills Brothers. You're singing a bit to it, but not too loud. You are however dancing to it, as well. Charley looks over at you and he smiles. He looks at the road.
He says, "Alright, fellas. Ladies. We're getting Carley. Think about it. It'll be even with us, now." Edgar says, "Even? How? I-I mean, we get Carley back, right? That makes six of us. Even number?"
Charley says, "That and... There's three of us fellas. Three of the gals." Barley says, "Yarr. Ya got a point there, Charley boy." Edgar ends up dancing a bit to the song as well before it ends a minute in a half later before the song ends.
You all get to the women's prison and you all get out of the car. You walk up the stairs and you head inside. You get in the lobby. You see a police officer and you walk to him. You say, "Hi. Excuse me. You're all releasing a Carley Slicer gal, right? Today?"
He says, "Carley Slicer?... Yes, miss. We are. So long as she's on her best behavior after this. She's lucky to be a lady and get parole." You nod. The officer sees the Butcher Gang and your sister. He gulps and says, "I-I see we got the Butcher Gang. I can tell that's them, alright." You say, "We don't wanna pick a fight. We just need Carley." He says, "Very well, missy. I'll be back." He walks off and walks through another door.
Rebecca says, "Wow, (Y/N). Your calmness worked on him." You say, "It takes the proper talk... I guess." Charley says, "You've done well, kid." You blush and you smile saying, "You did too, boss. You and me.~"
He looks away blushing and gulping down a big ball of saliva. You giggle. He whispers, "Quit it, would ya?" You lean in and you kiss him on the cheek whispering, "I'm only fucking with you, darling... You and I FUCKED up a storm that night, did we not?~" He blushes more and he whispers, "You're such a whore for me.~"
You whisper, "You're goddamn right I am, boss.~" He sighs shakily. Barley grins and whispers, "Yarr. I don't think it's just women that are your weakness, Charley boy. It's (Y/N)." Charley looks away saying, "Sh-shut up, old man." Barley chuckles.
The officer on the other end of the door is in the narrow corridor, leading a female out. She's got blonde hair about medium size. That's Carley Slicer. She's the same teenage girl from back in 1924 that was out in the streets as she saw you and Rebecca heading for Charley's place.
The officer says, "Be lucky you're getting out today and you have a chance. Don't ya screw up, ya hear?" She says, "Yeah yeah. I get it, copper. I'll be good. Blah blah blah." He says, "I mean it, Carley. Best behavior. We catch ya pickpocketing again or robbin' a liquor store, your ass is comin' back here. Ya got it?" She says, "Yeah sure. I get it." He says, "Good."
Right out in the lobby, you're all waiting. You and Rebecca are sitting on chairs. The guys are standing. Barley's pacing back and forth. Suddenly, you see the same door open and you see the same officer, but he's got a female with short to medium blonde hair with a few curls at the end like horns.
She's got a black and white striped shirt, black overalls, black boots, a black hat, etc. You all see her. Edgar grins and says, "Ey! Carley! You're out! Finally!" You look at her. Carley says, "Alright. I'm out here. Let go of me, copper."
He does and he says, "I mean it, Slicer. Be good." She grins and says, "Yes, sir." Out of sarcasm. He sighs and says, "Just stay outta trouble." He walks off. Carley mumbles, "Damn pigs. Taking away our freedom." She sticks her middle finger up. You can't help but hold back a laugh.
She hears this and looks over. She sees the guys and smiles saying, "Hey, boys. Ah, and Miss. Rebecca." Charley smiles and says, "Welcome out, Carley." Edgar grins and waves saying, "Long time, no see! 'Ey!" Barley says, "Yarr. It's been a while, lassie." Rebecca says, "Hi, Carley."
Carley sees you and she approaches you. You face her. She says, "Who are YOU?" You say, "I'm..." She says, "Wait a minute." She gets a good look at you and says, "Ooh, I see. You're the same kid that tagged along with Rebecca, right? Her kid sister." You nod.
She says, "Well, aren't ya the pretty one now?" You say, "Hi, Carley. I'm (Y/N). And yeah. I'm the same kid if you saw me." She says, "Believe me. I did see ya. I hated kids then, but I knew something had to be different about YOU... (Y/N)." You nod. She says, "Nice meetin' ya." You smile.
Charley says, "This is a nice reunion and all, but we gotta scram. I hate being in police departments, despite this particular one bein' one for gals." Edgar says, "I hear ya, boss." As you're all about to head out, you suddenly get your hand grabbed. Not too hard, though. You see that Carley got your hand. You look at her.
She says, "You heard him, girlie. Let's make like hay and bail." You all head out and you get in Charley's car, driving back to the warehouse with Charley behind the wheel, you up front with him and the others in the back.
