"Amara, come on." My mom sighs.

"No, I refuse." I shake my head. "Will you just at least apologize?" She asks.

She's trying to get me to work things out with Billie.

I'd rather die.

"No, she won't apologize to me, so why should I apologize to her? We're both over the fight anyways." I roll my eyes. "Whatever you say." She shrugs.

"I'm going to Lei's house." I tell her. "Okay, have fun, honey." Mom replies. "Love you." I say. "Love you too." She responds.

I grab my keys and walk out of the house, but get stopped.

"Where you going?"

I roll my eyes when I see it's Billie. "Work." I lie. "You said you didn't have work today." She furrows her brows and crosses her arms. "Got called in." I tell her.

"Oh."

"Later." I sigh and get in my car. When I get to Leilani's house, I knock on the door and she opens it and hugs me. "Hi."

"Hey." I smile and hug her back. "Let's go upstairs." She says.

We go up to her room and sit down on her bed. She lays her head in my lap and I play with her hair.

To be clear, me and Leilani's friendship is completely platonic. I don't know what Billie thinks she's talking about, but it's not true.

We're just really close.

"I'm so nervous for that test next week." She sighs. "We studied till, like, 3am. I think we'll be fine." I chuckle. "Let's just chill. Don't worry about it, okay?"

"Okay." Lei nods.

This girl goes crazy when it comes to academics.

Leilani pauses the show we're watching and I look down to see it's from Billie. "Ugh, not her." I groan.

"Billie?"

"Yup." I answer.
