Chapter eleven - breakfast x

A/n I just want to clarify manny and antha are also Sammys nicknames. There is a panic attack in this but then really sweet fluff at the end to make up for it xx

Leah's PoV
I woke up and checked the Time - it was 7am, this was the time Sammy woke up every morning and despite seeing her fast asleep with Beth I knew we couldn't disrupt her routine, especially not in an unfamiliar place. I gently shook her and when she woke up she flinched before putting her arms out for me to pick her up.
'Manny you know that one day you are going to be too big for me to carry you in the mornings'
'yeah, but that's not now le!' She grumbled, obviously still half asleep.
Beth slowly got up and I decided to put off asking why Sam was in her bed until later.
'Sammy the girls are going to the zoo later, do you feel up to going?' I was going to tell her yesterday but she was too tired and I thought it might stress her out.
'OMG le yessss! Did you know that in Spain there are wolves and bears and lynxes and ...'
Beth gave me a very interested look before asking manny how she knew all about it.
'It's just so cool Beth! How can someone not like animals, they are the best!!!!'
Animals has always been Sammys special interest but she often masked it by making posters to keep in her room or buying stuff relating to animals very little. This was something we were working on as she still struggles to express her needs and interests as my parents didn't seem to care.
'Hey bug how about you make one of your posters after breakfast and we can show the zookeepers'
'Omg will they actually look le! I'm gonna make it really neat and carefully'
'Ok but first let's finish getting ready and have breakfast'

Sammys PoV
Leah said I can make a poster about animals and show the people at the zoo today! I can't wait but now I have to go to breakfast. After last night the world seems very loud so I grab my bag to bring with me and put on my headphones. Leah gives me THE look before I nod to let her know I'm ok. When we get to breakfast I see that they have different food here and despite Leah asking they didn't have anything good and the toast was laid out with butter on already.
'Manny I can't see a chef anywhere, is there anything else you feel you can eat?'
God, this is awful I shake my head before rocking back and forth on my toes.
'Ok Sammy we are going to go outside into the hallway ok?'
I couldn't respond so she picked me up and took me out but I didn't want to be touched right now so I tried to break free. As soon as she put me down I ran down lots of corridors before I saw a room with a sign saying 'quiet space' and decided to go in. When I went in I saw purple lights, beanbags and books and fidget toys and everything you could dream of. I then saw someone sat in the corner looking at me before they asked 'hey, I'm Mary. Is everything ok?'
I couldn't speak so I grabbed my bag and cards and flipped to the 'I'm overwhelmed, sorry I can't talk right now' card.
She nodded her head before asking what she could do to help. I flipped to the information card which explained my basic needs and support methods.
'Hey wanna come sit with me and we can chill?'
I nodded, I liked Mary.
'Ok I'm gonna talk for a bit so you can get to know me. I'm gonna take a shot in the dark that you are Leah's sister as I've heard her talk about you. I'm Mary and play keeper for United, I'm in here because the breakfast room is way too loud and I struggle with noises. I was going to go in but I couldn't. Is there anything you need or want to know?'
I shook my head but for some reason I felt my heart miss a beat. This couldn't be happening right now, I did what I was supposed to and went somewhere quiet. The room started to cave in on me. I felt nauseous. I couldn't breathe. I felt really shakey.
'Hey darling, I'm going to hold your hands. Right, can you follow my breathing'
I tried as she put my hand on her chest but just couldn't keep control because I still felt out of breath.
'Ok I'm gonna give you a hug ok?'
I nodded.
'Try follow my breathing now sweetie'
After a couple minutes of deep breaths I calmed down. Between shakey breathes i said 'sorry'
'Hey, you have no reason to be sorry, I'm just glad you calmed down and feel a bit better now'
'Thank you, but how did you know'
'Hey, it's no problem and I get them sometimes so I know it feels like hell but I promise there are things we can do to stop them happening as much'
'Thank you'
'It's ok, let me get something'
As she said that she reached into her bag.
'This is rescue remedy, do you like sweets?'
'Sometimes'
'Have one of these it can help calm you down'
'Thank you Mary'
'It's no problem, do you want to try breakfast now it will have quietened down'

Mary's PoV
When Sammy entered the room I text Leah saying she's fine with me. We had decided to go and try breakfast.
When I went in I saw it was empty apart from Beth who was on the phone to someone.
'Right kiddo, what do you normally have for breakfast?'
'Toast no butter'
'Ok let me go and ask the chef Gareth'
As I said that, Beth came over.
'Hey Sam wanna talk to viv?'
'Yes!'
'Ok let's go'
And like that kiddo was off, I gathered her and Viv were very close which made sense as viv was great at calming people down and talking about her struggles.

Beth's PoV
I was on the phone to viv after calming her out of a panic attack as I saw kiddo come into the room. Viv must of heard over the phone as she asked if Sammy wanted to speak to her. So I went and got Sam and they chatted away.
'Hey vivi are you ok?'
'I'm alright darling yeah'
'Are you sure you sound a bit shakey?'
'Yeah I just had a moment'
'Hey that's ok but did you calm down?'
'Yeah I rang Beth'
'And you are safe?'
'Yep, all tucked up in bed'
'I'm proud of you'
That was one thing I've never heard Sam say and the thought brought tears to my eyes as it did Vivs.
'Thanks kiddo, but Beth told me you walked off today?'
'Yeah it was too much and Leah picked me up'
'Did you go somewhere quiet and safe'
'Yeah and I had a moment too but I met Mary and she calmed me down. She even gave me a calm sweet'
'I'm proud of you then Sammy'
'Thank you, stay safe Viv and remember you can't change what happened but you can change how you cope with it'
'Aww darling I'll speak to you Again at some point'
'Ok bye vivi'
'Bye antha'
