The relationship between Daemon Targaryen and Aelinor Targaryen has been the subject of poets, songwriters, and historians. Historical accounts all point that their marriage was a very happy and healthy one. Daemon was called 'Kepa' by all of his stepchildren, and his two daughters by his first wife, Laena Velaryon, openly considered Aelinor a mother to them.
A famous poem about the two was found by Prince Aenar Targaryen in the Dragon's Nest (the private family only wing of Dragonstone Castle) in 380 AC.
There was once a prince and his princess
Of steel and beauty, of the skies and fire
He was the dark knight, of shadows and blood
And she was the princess in white, garbed in starlight and moonlight
Together, they were a force of fireNo one knows which Targaryen wrote this poem, with guesses being Princess Baela, Princess Rhaena, Princess Valaena, Princess Rhaenyra, Princess Daena, or Princess Alysanne. But what historians to know is that the poem is the subject of the Rogue Prince and the White Queen.
A couple by all accounts, should not have happened.
But they did happen, and are forever remembered as two of the most (in)famous members of the House of the Dragon.
