CHAPTER 2: Saved by Oshawott

Already at night, Oshawott was still interested on traveling with Ash, he even heard, without being seen, that the young man would start his journey through the region to get eight gym badges and win the Unova League. The Pokémon was still being shy to tell him that he wanted to travel with him, but he had to talk with him in some point sooner or later.

The next morning, the otter noticed that Ash would go on a trip right now, the professor gave to him a Pokédex and some Poké Balls to start to travel through the region. Oshawott was outside of the laboratory where saw the two professors, Ash's mother and her son in a farewell to start his journey. After exchange some words, the youngster with a hat left. If the otter wanted to travel with him, he had to follow him wherever he went. So, without being noticed by the others, he started to follow Ash without being seen. Something told him that they were going to have a wonderful time if he accepted his proposal to travel with the water type Pokémon. He hoped to be like that.

That was how the Sea Otter Pokémon started to follow Ash in the forest, watching him and waiting the opportunity to tell him that he wanted to travel with him. Oshawott noticed Ash was accompanied by a young girl called Iris and her Axew. The next day, Iris and Axew weren't there and Ash along with Pikachu went by their own path. The otter had lost track of them for a moment and started to search everywhere. After an arduous search, he could find them together with Iris and Axew. The problem was there were more people and a Pokémon that he had never seen before either. Oshawott saw the situation: a man, a woman and a cat-like Pokémon had captured Pikachu and Axew in a glass cage.

The two humans had blackened cloths with an "R" in their uniforms. Ash and Iris went to see a Pidove that was defeated by a Woobat. The dudes were stealing the Pokémon and made appear a hot air balloon from a small suitcase. They tried to escape. Desperately, Ash and Iris went to rescue their Pokémon, but failed. The dudes were escaping, he couldn't allow it.

Oshawott went out from his hiding place and threw his scalchop to the balloon with great force, and popped it. The hot air balloon started to going down at great speed until the cage where Pikachu and Axew were broke after touching the ground. Fortunately, the two trainers could catch their Pokémon and put them save. In that moment, Oshawott's scalchop, with boomerang movement, came back to the Pokémon with no damage. He was able to rescue the Pokémon. He celebrated happily for that successful heroic act that he made, but the situation wasn't over. The bad guys were still standing with the intention to steal those Pokémon.

Ash ordered to Pikachu to use Thunderbolt but, he was stopped and hurt along with Axew by the Woobat's Air Slash. It was going to attack again, but Oshawott stood in front and used Water Gun, hitting the winged Pokémon and pushing back against Team Rocket. Ash ordered to Pikachu to finish them off using Volt Tackle, but the bad guy threw a smoke bomb, and they escaped. The intense ambient of battle calmed down. Suddenly, Axew and Pikachu fell to the ground because of the wounds. Worried, Ash and Iris picked up their respective Pokémon to take them to a Pokémon Centre, not without first thanking Oshawott for saving their Pokémon. He was a little confused, he thought that it would be another occasion when he said that he wants to travel with Ash. Then, he followed them to the Pokémon Centre.

After traveling a long way, Oshawott could find the two humans and their three Pokémon in the Pokémon Centre. Everyone was fine and healthy. It was a relief, in that moment, he heard Ash saying that it had to thank Oshawott for saving their Pokémon. The otter thought it wasn't the right moment to tell him that he wanted with him yet, but little by little was gaining more confidence to tell him that he wanted to travel with him. Maybe the next day would tell him that. Maybe.
