"I'm pregnant," I said to him.
"How sure are you that it's mine?" he asked.
I sighed, gusto kong sakalin siya, ngunit pinigilan ko ang sarili ko.
"As I expected, it's good that you're not interested in the child. That's good for you. You'll never see this child, ever. Oh well, I need to go. I'm just wasting my precious time here proving that all men are the same. But wait, before I forget, I have a question for you," I said to him.
"What is it?" tanong niya, habang nangungunot ang kanyang noo.
"G*G* kaba?" I asked.
"Why?" tanong niya, na may halong pagkalito sa kanyang mukha. At talagang sumagot pa siya. Gusto kong matawa pero pinigilan ko lang.
"Huwag mo sabihing 'Why'; sabihin mo 'OO'," sabi ko sa kanya dahilan para mas kumunot ng noo niya.
After that I turned away. As I walked towards the door, he called out to me.
"Wait."
I stopped but didn't look back at him.
"What?" I asked sharply.
"I didn't mean what I said earlier," he said softly.
I waved off his words. "Yeah, right."
"No, really," he insisted. "I was just surprised, that's all."
I turned around slowly, meeting his eyes. His face looked sincere, but I couldn't trust him yet.
"It doesn't matter now," I said quietly. "I'll deal with this by myself."
With that, I walked away, leaving him by himself. The situation felt heavy, but a determination to protect my unborn child grew stronger.
