CHAPTER FIVE
Eleanor was in the Med-Jack Hut, sitting in a corner a bit distracted. She woke up later than usual today, the same dream she had every day was still vivid in her mind for some reason.
Something about it felt different today.
Her dream repeated itself constantly as if someone was trying to remind her that she chose to be here. But it couldn't be that.
"We don't have much to do today. Why don't you go take a walk? A short break, we'll find you if we need you back." Clint suggested, noticing her distracted expression.
"Okay, thank you, Clint." She gave him a small smile, grateful for the break.
With little to do in the Med-Jack Hut, she left and walked towards Newt, Zart, Chuck, and Thomas.
Thomas looked in her direction as she sat beside him smiling at them.
He looked down at her necklace realizing she painted the star the color she wanted.
"So, did my advice work?" he asked smiling a bit.
"What?" she asked, confused
"The necklace. You painted it."
"Oh yeah, I added some orange, and it did the work."
"I love it!' Chuck exclaimed, happy to see she was wearing it.
Thomas looks at Chuck contemplating if he should ask his next question.
"What does the star mean?" he asked when Eleanor got up to help Newt and Zart.
"I was going to do a heart, but a star fits her more. They're pretty just like her." Chuck explained with a smile.
"Don't get jealous. You're kind of ugly but not completely." Chuck teased.
"Very nice, Chuck." Thomas ruffled up the boy's hair, messing up his curls a bit.
"Hey, she's the star, I'm the sun, and you can be the moon."
"Ok, that doesn't make any sense," Thomas said, looking at the maze doors
" Why would Alby go to the Maze? He's not a Runner."
"Alby went to retrace Ben's footsteps before sundown. Are you gonna help here?"
"So he's gonna go back to where Ben was just stung?"
"Thomas, there's a lot you still don't know."
"Alby knows what he's doing, all right? He knows better than any of us."
"What does that mean?"
"Well, it's like you have heard, yeah? Every month the Box sends up a new arrival. But someone had to be first, right? Someone had to spend a whole month in the Glade, alone." Newt paused before he continued
"That was Alby. I mean it can't be easy. But when those other boys started coming up, one after the other... he saw the truth. And he learned that the most important thing...is that we all have each other. Because we're all in this together."
When Eleanor arrived at the Glade she didn't know what to do she felt uncomfortable with all the guys looking her way and it made her spent a week trying to hide until she met Mikael,
He made her feel comfortable and reassured that she was okay there, and Gally and Mikael built Eleanor her private area so she could feel better in the Glade.
Thomas for once stopped asking questions and got up to help them
"There you go, Greenie!"
