Y/n pinned Riwon to the ground, bundling her wrists in one hand while he cocked his other hand back. The two wrestled on the padded floor of the gymnasium, their faux katanas splayed in the distance. Minju, Dayeon, and Yena watched from the second floor as Riwon leveraged Y/n's weight against him, toppling him. While he stood on his feet, Riwon locked her legs around Y/n's neck forcing him to tap on her thighs to surrender.
"You seriously let her win like that? You always fall for that move," Minju scoffed from above.
Y/n rubbed his neck, panting. He wiped the sweat on his face with his shirt. "How am I supposed to stop that? It's not like I can grab your legs or anything."
"Just learn," Yena shrugged.
Riwon tugged at Y/n's sleeve prompting him to nod. Following a quick shower and change of clothes, Y/n met up with Riwon and Minju at the front of the training building. He exhaled softly earning both girls' attention.
"What's wrong, Oppa?" they asked in unison. Following a brief glance between the pair, they turned their eyes back to Y/n's distressed frown.
"I feel like I haven't been growing much," Y/n mumbled. He rested his palm on the pommel of the katana at his hip. "After I reached Dunam it feels like I've hit a wall."
Minju interlocked her fingers with Y/n's spreading a sense of security across her worries. "That's natural for most people. It's the average rank in the military after all."
"For people without alleles," Y/n emphasized. He titled his head with a furrowed eyebrow. "Or energy. They're just normal people."
"Those normal people have to go through at least five years of grueling training to get where you did in less than three." Minju bumped Y/n with her shoulder. "Let it happen naturally. Growth takes time. Just like with your height! Give yourself a couple more years and you'll be taker than Yujin!"
Y/n grumbled at the mention of Yujin's height, sighing. "I guess..."
After the sun set, Y/n dropped Minju off at her home before walking with Riwon to her house. Despite insisting he had no problem waiting outside, Riwon pulled Y/n inside where he awkwardly greeted her parents. Riwon's father stood no taller than he did and looked like a normal person. His unstyled black hair laid flat on his head and piercing black eyes demanded respect from him.
Her mother, on the other hand, looked exactly like Riwon: short stature with cat-like features--primarily brown slitted eyes, secondary ears that stuck out from her black hair, and a tail wrapped around her waist.
"So you're the guy she's been talking about," Riwon's father said. His arms and chest popped from his shirt, and his refined stance closed many of the openings Y/n saw in normal people, giving Y/n the impression he most likely passed Riwon's allele to her; otherwise he was a citizen.
Y/n bowed, eliciting a nod from Riwon's father. A part of him saw his own father in the man. Whether it be his obvious martial experience, or the way he carried himself, the semblance was there. "It's nice to meet you, sir."
Riwon descended her house's stairs pinching the pleats of her white skirt. The solid white outfit, comprised of a hoodie, skirt, and knee high socks, contrasted with the girl's usual black palette painting her in an innocent light. She followed her habitual way of staring at the floor, kneading her thumb with her other hand. "How do I look...?"
"You look great!" Y/n beamed. While the pair walked to the door, Riwon threw her hood over her head. As with all of her hoods, the material was tailored specifically to fit snuggly around her ears, and covered the top portion of her face.
To match the style of the hood, all of her hoodies were oversized with no exception. The pair approached a local restaurant to grab food before walking to a watch tower--Y/n's assigned post for the week. "I told you you'd look good in normal clothes. You were all like, 'I want to try it, but I don't know how I'd look,' but you're just like any other girl."
