Chapter 13
Strange"You look good." Mama coldly said before she looked away.
Papa also pleasingly raised his brow at me. Inayos niya ang kanyang tuxedo.
I am wearing a simple square neck white long dress. Backless iyon at naka-ribbon ang tali saking batok. I paired it with a black heels and gold circle earrings.
Friday came and I really took time to prepare tonight. Just like what my mother said.
And this is the first time she organized a big event ever since we got back here in Bacolod. I know how important this is to my mother. Her dream was to be a doctor but she had no chance to pursue it because I came. She gave birth to me when she was only nineteen.
Now her passion in designing and organizing is what she does for a living.
"I hope you like what we prepare for this event, Gov!" my mother said enthusiastically. Nilingon niya kami at agad pinakilala. "This is my husband, Edison Del Rosario. Our daughter, Isla Mishael Del Rosario."
"Maganding gabi, Gov. At maligayang kaawaran," si Papa at nakipag-kamay.
The Governor held my father's hand and smiled. It's his 80th birthday and the event is so grand and almost costs millions.
She was so stressed preparing this with their team.
And now, she looks effortlessly pretty with her simple yet very elegant silver dress like nothing happened.
The high ceiling of the ancient house screams for power and wealth.
I smiled shyly at that before I did what he wanted.
"You have a beautiful daughter, Michelle," ani Gov at humalakhak.
She was rubbing her hand on my cold shoulder that I almost felt a comfort.
"Nako, Gov! Salamat. Maybe it's the genes of Gamboas?" my mother laughs gracefully.
Papa looked at her for a while with brows furrowed. Then my lips parted as I looked at my passionate mother who's still holding me.
