Oh my gosh.
This was it.
It was our time to preform.
OUR TIME TO PREFORM!!
AHHHHH!
I got up from my seat picking up my bag. I felt a bit nauseous. "If any of you are taking part in Mr.Müllers arts event you may go." A few other students walked out with me. I walked towards the auditorium and caught Tom and Gustav.
"You're not looking too great." Gutsav said. "I don't feel too great." We met up with Georg and Bill and walked together. I felt limp. The auditorium was crowded with students from all of Mr.Müllers periods. I began to grow nervous.
Georg could tell, he gave me a reassuring smile. Inside were 2 lines if you were in periods 1,2,or 3 you would go in the first line if you were in periods 4,5,or 6. You would go in the second line. We all split up and walked to our lines. The line was a long wait. The auditorium was decorated with different signs, colorful banners, and lights that weren't turned on yet. Once I reached the front I checked in with a woman with green eyes, my name, my period, my group, and what I would be doing.
The auditorium was a bit dim it's yellow tint comforting. It reminded me of the feeling you get when you go see a play with family you haven't seen in a while and are waiting in the dim room for the lights to set. Once we all checked in we were told to sit in the first 5 front row of the stage on both sides.
All five of us sat together. Georg sat in the first front row on the left all the way to the end. I sat next to him and Gustav joined us. Bill and Tom scooted over next to Gustav. As we all began to grow nervous. We made jokes and tried to spark up conversations here and then but it was mainly quiet. We were all nervous and could tell.
Soon all of Mr.Müllers students settled in. I looked back to see all of the students. They filled up the first five rows on both sides of rows. There would be quiet a bit of acts! It calmed me down a bit seeing how many other kids would be participating too and that we most likely wouldn't have to go first and instead get to see the layout. Mr.Müller walked onto the stage. The stage had microphones, guitars, a piano, a drum, and a few other small instruments.
He tapped the microphone, "Testing, Testing, Testing!" "Alright students! Welcome, today is the big day! I hope you're all prepared!" "Today we will be splitting up acts into two parts since today of course wouldnt be enough time for all of my periods." "If you were in periods 1,2, or 3 you shall go first today if you have a partner or partners in the other line they are welcomed to join you when it is your turn. I will go in order from 1st-3rd by attendance wise."
My heart raced. I wasnt exactly first nor last. Meaning we would most likely be going today.
Students headed into the auditorium sitting down chattering amongst each other. Seeing all the kids walking in made me even more nervous!
Mr. Müller had the acts that would be going up first today waiting back stage in the lounge room. Chairs were back there, a couple bean bags, some students stood and chatted, some sat on the wooden floor, we were one of the acts back there. We sat down. I sat down on the ground, Bill sat down on a chair, Tom and Gustav sat on a bean bag, and Georg sat on the floor next to me.
My palms grew sweaty. I wiped them on the sides of my pants. "Wow" "I cant believe we're actucally doing this." Bill sounded nervous yet mainly exicted. "Yeah, me too!" Gustav began to mimic playing the drums in the air. "This should be interesting" Tom added. Georg looked at me. He shook my shoulder. "She's exicted, were all exicted."
I turned to him slowly. "Well we may all be a bit nervous but there's nothing to be nervous about. We've all worked so hard, what would be the point to go up there and be nervous?" Everyone nodded. He was right. Everyone was right. We worked too hard. We were gonna do amazing. Other kids were nervous too.
When going up you didn't know what act you'd be. You just knew that you would have to go that day. So at any point you could be next. Our groups were given numbers backstage.
We were the 8th act of the show. We saw kids dance, rap, sing (not so greatly...), act out a part from a movie, recite a poem. "Next up we have act Number eight!""No way!" Bill squealed. "Are we seriously doing this?" I asked, "We're seriously doing this!" Gustav cracked his knuckles. "Let's do this!" Tom and Georg pulled each other into a side hug. We all huddled up quickly. "Guys I just wanted to let you know that you guys are great friends! And I can't believe we're doing this!" Bill was filled up with so much excitement it was all bottled up. I smiled at his excitement.
"I agree, I wouldn't want to be doing this group project with anyone else." I smiled. "Awwee" Gustav placed his hand on his chest. "Now let's go out there!" Tom clapped his hands together. As we made our way out onto the stage.
