- Calum's POV -
"What's wrong with Elena?!" I frown, my heart race increasing.
"We need to speak to you all in person, Mr Hood. Please come to the hospital as soon as possible." The doctor says over the phone.
"Not until you tell me what's wrong!" I protest.
"Mr Hood, please just come down to the hospital. It's important that we tell you and the others the news in person." The doctor explains.
"We're on our way!" I ramble, slipping my shoes on. I hang up the phone as the other boys come into the living room. "What's wrong?" Ashton asks.
"It's Elena... The doctors want us to speak to us in person, we need to get to the hospital." I reply, nervously. The boys take it as a hint to get their shoes on, and we all pile into my car. I slept in Elena's room last night, it was a little emotional seeing her room looking so normal while she's lying in a hospital bed, in a coma. I hope she's okay. When we park, all of us jump out of the car and rush into the hospital. "We're here to see the doctor about Elena," I say, catching my breath.
"Gentlemen, follow me!" Dr. Johnston (it's the name on his tag) tells us all. It's the same doctor from yesterday.
We stop outside of Elena's room, but she's not in her bed. I frown, until a terrifying thought comes into my mind. She can't be dead... "Where's Elena?" I ask, hoping the answer isn't what I'm thinking. "We've had to move her into intensive care." Dr. Johnston says. Intensive care?! We continue following him down the halls until we stop outside of another room. Elena is lying there, still looking as beautiful as she was yesterday. "I've got bad news to tell you, I'm afraid..." Dr. Johnston says. "Telling us she's in intensive care isn't the bad news?" Luke frowns.
"Sadly not. If you'd like to come into her room, I'll let you know what's happening." He has us walk into the room.
"So, what's happening?" Michael asks.
"There's no easy way to say this..." The doctor starts.
"Just say it." Ashton sighs.
"Elena's dying. If she doesn't wake up in the next few weeks, she's going to drift off in the coma..." He explains sadly. I don't listen to anything after that. The words just keep ringing in my brain; 'Elena's dying'... When I snap out of my thoughts, the doctor has left and Luke is waving his hand in front of my face. My eyes avert to Ashton, who's looking at me with a confused expression. "This is all your fault!" I scream, storming over to him. I punch him as he backs up against the wall. "Calum, stop!" Luke shouts.
"YOU'RE THE REASON ELENA'S GOING TO DIE! IT'S YOUR FAULT!" I scream louder, throwing another punch. His nose is bleeding and his lip is cut. "Calum!" Michael shouts. Both him and Luke grab me before I go to punch Ashton again. I struggle in their grasp, trying to free my arms to hit Ashton again. "YOU DID THIS! You-" my voice becomes hoarse at the end, and I sink to the floor, tears brimming in my eyes. "I-I'm sorry..." Ashton whispers. He rushes out of the room, Michael going after him. "She's going to die, Luke, I'm gonna lose her!" I choke, tears beginning to slide down my cheeks. "She's not going to die, Calum! She's strong, she'll fight this," he soothes, hugging me. I cry into his shoulder, more specifically crying Elena's name...
- Ashton's POV - (A/N: Haven't done his POV in ages either!)
"YOU DID THIS! You-" Calum's voice drops completely at the end, and he collapses to the floor, tears brimming in his eyes. He's right, it's all my fault... "I-I'm sorry..." I whisper, holding back tears as I rush out of the room. I go to the bathroom and clean up my face, and that's when the tears fall. I completely break down. "Hey! Don't cry, Ash!" Michael comes in, walking over to me. I slide down the wall and bury my face in my knees, sobbing. I feel warmth next to me, and I know that Michael has sat down next to me. "I-it's my fault!" I croak, staring at him with blurred vision. "It's not your fault," he says sternly. I shake my head and wipe my eyes, "you didn't drive the car into Elena, and you certainly didn't ask for Elena to end up in a coma," he reasons.
"But I was meant to look after her, Mike! I failed her, I broke my promise to Calum!" I protest, running my fingers through my hair. "You didn't fail Elena at all. Up until now, which once again isn't your fault, you've looked after her just like you promised Calum. You made sure she was happy, that she felt wanted! You looked after her better than anyone could. And you didn't break your promise to Calum, you've done what he's asked. He's back now, so this doesn't count as you breaking his promise," he sighs.
"But Calum says it's my fault, and he's right!" I sniff.
"He's hurt. He's hurt, he's angry, and he's taking it out on the only person who he felt he could take it out on." Michael counters.
"I just don't want him blaming me... I don't want him to hate me," I explain.
"He won't hate you, Ash," Michael assures. I sigh, getting up from the floor with Michael. We make our way back to Elena's room in the intensive care unit, and I see Calum holding Elena's hand through the window. When we walk in, there's an awkward silence. "I'm sorry for punching you... And for blaming you, it's not your fault," Calum says sadly.
"It's fine... I'm sorry too. I should've understood that you got upset for a good reason," I say back.
"We alright?" Calum asks.
"Yeah," I smile, sitting on the other side of Elena's bed. I hope she wakes up soon...
- Calum's POV -
I hold her hand tightly in mine. "Wake up, beautiful, please wake up," I whisper. I hope she can hear me, I really hope she can. "We're going to get some coffee, you coming with us?" Luke's voice snaps me out of my thoughts. "Sure," I nod, getting up from my chair and following them out of the room. The coffee machine is right near the exit doors, so we open them to get some fresh air, as it's hot inside. Just as I'm about to get some coffee, three pairs of hands grab me and pull me outside. "Guys, what the fuck?!" I growl.
"We want to ask you a question," Luke smiles.
"Do you play acoustic guitar?" Michael asks.
"No! Why the fuck would I randomly play acoustic guitar?!" I hiss. What are they doing?!
"Do you play any instrument?" Ashton questions.
"Bass guitar, why?" I roll my eyes.
"Awesome! We play instruments too," Ashton pointlessly explains.
"Why would I care about that?" I frown. This is getting weird.
"We go to the music shop in town to play together. We've formed a band, and we want you to join!" Luke grins.
"A band? No fucking way." I scoff.
"Please! Look, Luke and I play guitar, and Ashton plays the drums! You've got to join. A bassist would be good for the band!" Michael practically begs. Oh my god...
"Do you guys sing?" I ask.
"Yeah, well- Mike and Luke do," Ashton nods.
"Then I'm not joining!" I shake my head.
"Why not?" Ashton groans, pouting his bottom lip.
"I can't sing!" I roll my eyes.
"Fine," the other boys mumble.
We all stay with Elena for another three hours before going home. Well, back to their home. "Hey, Calum?" Ashton calls from the kitchen.
"Yeah?" I call back, making my way to him.
"Do you want to move in permanently?" he asks as I walk in.
"Are you serious?!" I grin.
"Of course! Elena's room has a double bed and you two are a couple. She always said she wanted the double bed just in case you two found each other again, so you're completely welcome!" Ashton explains, smiling.
"Then yes! Thanks, Ash." I clap my hands in excitement.
"We're all going out to get some pizza, want to tag along?" Michael asks as all the boys put their shoes on. "No, thanks. I think I'm just going to go upstairs and chill in mine and Elena's room." I grin. "So you asked him then?" Luke smiles, looking at Ashton.
"Yep," Ashton smiles back at him.
"Enjoy getting the pizza," I say. They all walk out of the house, and I grab my car keys. I need to go to my house and get my things. When I arrive, I unlock the front door and go in. I immediately pack all my belongings, leaving furniture and all that other stuff. I keep having to go back and forth to pack my things in the boot of my car, but I'm done in ten minutes.
Once I arrive back at my new home, I bring everything into my room, but I leave my bass guitar in the car. Once I'm done, I climb back into the car and drive into town. I park up and grab my guitar, walking into the music shop that I go into quite regularly. "Hello, Calum! You here for your music session?" Paul, the shop worker asks, smiling at me.
"Yeah! Is there a room free?" I ask him.
"There's one left! You came just in time, it's the one right at the end of the hall," he informs. I thank him again, leaving him to help customers. I know where I'm going, I'm always here to play. I walk into the room and close the door, sitting on a stool. I start playing my guitar, singing the words to the song, and I immediately get lost in the music. I don't know what it is, but I love playing music; I love writing it, and I love to sing it too.
I wrote a load of songs before going into the home. I've started writing more after I got out, and I instantly fell in love with it again. When I finish singing the I wrote, I jump at the sound of a voice, "I thought you said you couldn't sing." Ashton and the other boys are standing in the doorway, their arms crossed. "I-I can't?" I lie, making it sound more like a question.
"Well you can, so you have to join our band!" Ashton tells me.
"No way!" I shake my head.
"Why not?! You can't use the excuse about not being able to sing," Luke points out.
"Fine, I'll join the band!" I sigh, giving in. The boys exchange cheers and high fives.
"That song, did you write it?" Michael asks, coming and sitting on a stool with a guitar in his hand. "Gotta Get Out? Yeah, I wrote it..." I admit.
"Teach us how to play it!" Luke grins, taking a seat on a stool too, his guitar in his hand. Ashton nods, taking a seat behind the drum kit that is placed just behind us. "O-okay..." I hand Ashton the spare copy of the lyrics, and I start playing. Luke and Michael start to join in, and the sound is great, then Ashton comes in with the drums and it gets even better! I start singing, and so do the other boys. When we finish, we all grin. We sound awesome together... "That was so cool!" Michael says. "I agree!" Luke nods, grinning.
"Calum, that song it so good!" Ashton compliments.
"Thanks..." I say shyly. I'm getting shy, what the hell is wrong with me?
"Do you have any more songs?" Ashton asks.
"Yeah, quite a few," I nod.
"You need to bring them!" Luke suggests.
"Are you sure you want me to do that?" I frown. The boys nod. Sounds good...
