Ψ . . . SAIKI DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT to think when Gojo showed up to class the next day still wearing their bandages. He could feel his energy deflating as Gojo fell into step behind him, casual as could be.
Why do you still have your bandages on?
Well, good morning to you too. I'm doing wonderful today, thank you for asking.
You're drawing attention to yourself. I can fix your glasses if you need them.
That's sweet of you, but no, thank you. I quite like how concerned everyone is about me with these bandages on.
Saiki glowered at Gojo. Arrogant prick. He realized too late that he had actually projected the thought to Gojo, who peeped at him from beneath the bandages and batted their eyelashes.
Saiki, admittedly, had spent too much time yesterday looking at Gojo's eyes. They caught the light like they were made of liquid diamonds. How Gojo could deal with the attention was beyond Saiki. If he had been cursed with the Six Eyes, he would have had to pull a similar trick to his hair colour and mind-control everyone into thinking that mesmerizing blue eyes was normal.
With their glasses on, they were a rakish, devil-may-care second year. But without them, Gojo was undeniably lovely. Even their eyelashes were white, Saiki had realized yesterday, flakes of snow resting against their cheeks.
Saiki forced himself to stop this line of thought immediately. Gojo may have looked like an undead mummy with the bandages, but at least they covered the Six Eyes.
Gojo shamelessly pandered to the flock of girls who descended on them, moaning about their eyes and how terrible they felt. They were only too happy to accept the sweets the girls offered. They were almost as bad as Toritsuka, Saiki thought.
As they entered the classroom, Saiki noticed the dark mood around Teruhashi immediately, even as she went over to Gojo and inquired about their eyes.
How dare Gojo take attention away from me! What a brazen liar; their eyes were perfectly fine yesterday! But, of course, I can't say anything without seeming like I hate people who are ill. All part of Gojo's plan, no doubt. Maybe I should be taking notes! If I came to school sniffling with a cold ...
Saiki sank into his seat, pinching the bridge of his nose. Between the girls' worrying and Teruhashi's scheming, he could already feel a headache coming on. And to make matters worse, Yumehara was just as distressed seeing Gojo today as she had been yesterday.
Gojo still has the bandages on, Yumehara thought to herself. I can just tell they're trying to hide how uncomfortable they are. I feel so bad for them! But there's also something about it. Gojo kind of reminds me of Kaido in a way ... maybe it's ... no! I can't think like that! Stop it, Chiyo!
Yes, please stop, Saiki thought, biting down on the nausea rising in his throat.
"Oi, dude, what happened to your eyes?" Nendo asked loudly, muscling his way through the crowd of girls. They all scattered, casting dirty glances in Nendo's direction.
"Oh, they just got tired," Gojo said breezily. They leaned back in their seat. "I wanted to give them a break."
"But how are you supposed to see?"
"I can see just fine."
"How many fingers am I holding up?"
"Four."
"How about now?"
"Three."
"How about now?"
Gojo grinned and threw the rude gesture right back in Nendo's face. The other boy howled with laughter and the two of them slapped palms.
