The Teenage Years of Scrooge McDuck

Chapter 4

The next day went by fairly quickly All I thought about was what happened last night the gem and the adventure we were going on tonight.

I couldn't wait this could be my chance, my chance to make my family name proud and start my own business. I'm worried about Sophie though. I didn't want her to get hurt by getting these artifacts. Maybe her parents wanted her in for a reason I didn't want to be the reason she gets hurt.  She and I had never gone on an adventure like this before and a part of me was a little nervous.

After washing the dishes from supper I ran to Sophie's room where she was dressed in a white long sleeve with black pants and black boots.

She tossed me a thing of clothes "Put these on."

"Where did you get these from?" I asked.

"I had someone make it for you I told them it was for me and to make it a certain size so I hope it fits you I sketched it up and everything."

I punched her in the shoulder "I didn't know you were a designer"

She rolled her eyes and smirked "There's a lot of things you don't know about me."

I went into her bathroom and got changed into a long brown jacket with a maroon shirt underneath and brown spats to top it all off.

I got out and she had put her golden-like hair into a high ponytail braid and wore a dark green jacket that went to her belt.

"Ok pretty boy we got to go now it's seven." she looked me up and down and touched my chest "You look nice."

I blushed "Thanks, you do too."

She smirked at me and took the jewel out of her pants pocket.

"Are you ready for this?" She asked me.

I nodded and looked at her hoping none of us got hurt.

She shook the gem "Take us to the first unsolved adventure of Llaria."

A purple portal came up and we both looked at each other and nodded.

We walked in together not knowing what would happen next

We walked into a world full of light and a small town with a mountain in the back of it all.

"For the sword of shadows, this doesn't seem like the place to look," said Sophie as she walked near the town.

We walked near the town and it seemed deserted there weren't many people there and the people that did looked like they didn't have a lot of money. A woman stopped us as we walked through a neighborhood "Hello you two I haven't seen you guys around here." she said "Did you just move here?"

"No, we haven't been looking for a shadow sword?" I said

"The sword of shadows?" She asked with a terrified look on her face.

"Uhh yes is that a problem?" I asked

"The sword of shadows is the sword created by our great warrior Alexandria Stoll she was the queen of the shadows and had shown everyone she wasn't evil by defeating an army by herself she was amazing." She said "But after she died she put it into the mountain with life-threatening traps..." She looked at Sophie and me "And you two are just teenagers. I don't want you two to die at such a young age."

"We'll be just fine," Sophie said walking past her.

She ran up to Sophie "Hey listen my husband is the mayor of this town and a descendant of Alexandria. If you won't listen to me why don't you come to our home and listen to him."

Sophie was about to say something but I butted in "We would love to Mrs.."

"Clara Stoll." As she put out her hand to shake mine.

I shook her hand back "Scrooge McDuck." I stepped aside to show Sophie "And this is Sophie Buchman."

" Nice to meet you too." she said "Follow me."

We followed her to her home which wasn't as nice as Sophies but it was the nicest out of all the town's homes.

She walked in and touched her beak "Why don't you too go into the living room while I find my husband." She said walking out of the room.

Both of us walked into the room that we assumed was the living room and sat down.

A boy about our age with a black shirt and brown pants walked in and looked shocked.

"You too don't look familiar." He said, "Are your parents friends with my parents or..."

"We're here to ask you Dad about the Sword of Shadows." I said I put my hand out "Scrooge McDuck."

"Alexander Stoll," he said shaking my hand and looking into my eyes with his black ones. "But friends call me Alex."

"Scrooge, Sophie!" Clara called us as we sat down to take a seat on the couch as I sat between Sophie and Alexander.

"Meet my husband John Stoll." She said introducing us "John meet Scrooge McDuck and Sophie Buchman the two who want to know about the Sword of Shadows.

He sat down and immediately started telling us about his run-in with the sword " I was about your age maybe 13 when I wanted to know more." He said looking at us "I was curious my parents warned me as well telling me it was dangerous but I didn't listen." He sat up "One Night I snuck out and was gone three days and I had no idea I did get to see the sword by determination because I had lost all of my things. But for some reason when I tried to hold it I went into a full-on nightmare my greatest fears became a reality so I put it back and ran out of there never wanting to see it again."

"Oh my god" I said those were the only words that could come out of my mouth.

"I'm so sorry Mr. Stoll," Sophie said

Clara held her husband's hand as he sat up "I don't want you two near or try to look for that sword please for your safety."

"Okay we're very sorry about your experience with the sword we won't go near it or look for it," Sophie said.

"I'm happy to hear it I better get to the office." He said as he waved goodbye and left the room holding hands with Clara.

"Wow, I'm surprised you took that so well," I said

"You fell for that?" she said smirking with her arms crossed "I thought you were smart."

"Sophie did you not hear the story? We would never get it I don't want my greatest fear to come true."

"Well, I'm going whether you like it or not."

"Sophie wait...."

"I heard you still want to go." as Alex stopped Sophie in her tracks

                                                      "I want in."
