Where is he?!
Gumball desperately searched the hallways, looking for any sign of Darwin anywhere. He was terrified at the thought of telling him everything. The thought of seeing his brother so scared of him, possibly even turning him right into the authorities without a second thought, hurt so much. Worse yet, if he turned his back on him forever.
"Darwin?.."
"Yeah?"
Gumball sighed in relief, finding the goldfish standing next to the lockers, who gave a look of confusion and worry. It pained the cat to see it if anything. "There you are.. I've been looking everywhere for you dude!"
"Oh, sorry, I was just caught up with all the chaos going on. Do you know why everyone's panicking?... I keep hearing about some kind of.. Horrific act or something?"
"..I don't know. I'm just as confused as you are.. But I heard school's out for today? I guess we might as well just walk home today." It felt like torture having to lie this much to him, but he had no choice, did he? This was for the greater good for everyone wasn't it? Gumball couldn't help but feel absolutely miserable, downright terrified even. He had no idea what could be in store for the future now.
Darwin raised an eyebrow, noticing something wrong. He couldn't put a fin on it, but he knew him well by now, and it was quite obvious that the cat was very much afraid about much more than whatever was going on. He hesitantly shrugged it off, accepting the response he was given. "Okay, let's go home then."
The two walked down the hallway, and left the building, Anais soon in tow. They didn't know when she appeared but it was best not to question it.
"So, why is school out?" She asked, curiosity filling her expression, as well as suspicion. "Do you two have any involvement?"
For a moment Gumball internally panicked, but tried his best to calm down. He knew his sister was smart, but he was able to deceive her, couldn't he? Admittedly enough, she was only four after all. He settled for a light shrug in response, as they walked. "I don't really know what's going on. There was a bunch of screaming, and some teacher showed up to class and said that school was over for the day."
"Huh, that's odd." The young bunny raised an eyebrow, giving a deadpan look. "I assume it must be the school's faulty wiring getting screwed up again. They really need to fix that thing."
The trio soon arrived back at home, coming aside with a swift close of the door behind them.
"Why are you back so early?" Richard was sitting at the couch, eating a bag of potato chips. He was fairly confused, craning his neck to look over at them. "Was there some half-day I didn't know about?"
"Something happened so they let us out I guess." Gumball explained as vaguely as he could. He didn't want to be around them much longer, choosing to make his way up the stairs. It felt like the guilt was five tons of bricks sinking over his back.
"Hm.. Something's amiss around here.." Anais narrowed her eyes, as she watched him go. She had suspected whatever happened must have had relation to him, telling by the fear she saw him trying to hide.
"What's amiss mean?" Richard blankly sat there, hand hovering over his chip bag.
She sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. "It means something isn't right. It sounds like Gumball's hiding something."
"Oh.. Okay." He shrugged, facing back to the TV as loud crunching was soon heard.
"..I know what you mean." Darwin looked at the young bunny with concern. "I... Noticed something wrong when he was talking to me earlier.. Maybe we should talk to him at some point?.. There's clearly some kind of.. Thing bugging him.."
