Not Just a Voice

For the rest of the day, the voice didn't interfere or speak at all.

Gumball was utterly relieved by that, grateful for having his moments of peace for once. He never liked that weird thing. Having a voice not his own in his mind was terrifying, almost out of a horror film. Well, that part was rather ironic.

Thankfully, nobody had spoken of his outburst from earlier. He could only hope they weren't more weirded out and terrified of him because of it, but he could care less at the moment. It was a regular school day, with no murder, no voices, just simple and ordinary.

Of course, it couldn't stay that way for long, would it?

It was now lunchtime, as Gumball was standing in line waiting for his turn to get food. He wasn't really in a talkative mood at the moment, though it likely wouldn't have mattered anyways, as it seemed nobody was really in a mood to talk with him either.

"Next!"

Setting his tray out, the cat watched as Rocky plopped some kind of meatloaf looking thing in place, with some vegetables on the side. It was passable enough as food. Gumball gave the puppet some money, as he picked up a little carton of milk on his way out of the lunch line.

It was weird to him, seeing all these people.. Alive. Walking around, like nothing ever happened. He found it rather unnerving, especially knowing that they would never know what happened in the timeline. Only he knew what he had done then, and it was painful. Now, it was just Tobias that was gone, but even then, the death of that boy haunted him. The cat decided to shake the thoughts away, as he walked through the cafeteria.

He didn't want to think about death or murder.

Now seated at a table, Gumball took a small bite of his food, as he waited patiently for Darwin, seeing him still a bit far back in the line.

Hello again.

The feline nearly choked, coughing as he tried to swallow the portion in his mouth. He scowled, recognizing the situation.

Now is not the time, weird annoying voice in my head!

Oh really? Such a flattering name.

Shut up.

I'll never go away Gumball. You'll be stuck with me for the rest of your pathetic little life.

"Gumball?.."

The voice went silent again. It was very much welcomed if anything. Gumball looked across the table, spotting Penny coming by, a look of concern on her face. He felt dread deep inside him at the sight. Did he do something wrong? Were those weird eyes showing again?

"Are you okay?.." She asked, noticing how tense he looked. The fairy frowned, watching him nod. She knew that wasn't a true response. "..You don't mind if I sit here right?"

"Nah, I don't mind." He took focus on his meal, doing his best to keep the rather gross meat down. The last thing he wanted was to lose his lunch in front of the entire school, much less his girlfriend.

Penny sat in a seat across from him, resting her arms on the table. She had to break the ice now, seeing that he surely wasn't going to talk about it. "..Darwin told me what happened earlier.."

"Huh? Oh uh.. Yeah, that. Well don't worry, everything's okay now." Gumball replied, twirling his fork around his tray. He knew it was only a matter of time before she would've found out about the classroom thing, but what could he say?

"Are you sure?.." The fairy had seen through the reply, her worry only more prevalent. "From what I heard... He mentioned something about.. A voice in your head?.."
