In the dream, he and Penny were walking through the park. The sun was shining, birds were chirping, and lovely romantic music filled the air. It was generally peaceful at the moment, at least for a dream. There weren't any weird objects or people around, if anything it was almost like reality.
"Oh, there's a good spot over there." Penny said, as she pointed to a nearby tree on the hill, a perfect shade casted under it. The two began making their way up, going across the green luteous grass.
Gumball was carrying a picnic basket, the two sitting down under a tree as they ate lunch, talking mostly about normal things, though be it the feline's stories were more heroic and adventurous. Before Penny could react, the cat pulled her into a kiss, dropping his half eaten sandwich onto the grass.
It lasted for about a few more seconds, but soon he let go, stars appearing in his eyes. "I love you.."
Penny smiled, her hands resting in his paws. "I love you too."
They looked at each other lovingly, the environment around them feeling as if they were transported into outer space, just the two of them alone with the twinkling stars and beautiful scenery. It was perfect.
Gumball however, frowned, a feeling in his gut that something was... Off. The romantic music in the background was faintly beginning to distort into what sounded like madness. It was like the noise of a middle school band starting out their instruments. That couldn't be right. This was a beautiful sunny day, wasn't it?
"..Um.. Gumball are you alright?.." The fairy grew confused, almost concerned by his behavior. By now she had let go of his hands, as she watched his confusion.
"Do you hear that? Why's the music acting weird?.." He looked behind him, seeing the setting gradually becoming gloomier and dark, unlike the sunny view he just witnessed seconds ago. Because not a single person could be seen in the distance, it was made even worse, almost liminal. "Penny what's going on-"
As soon as he turned back to speak to his girlfriend, he screamed, horrified by the sight. Penny was now a dead corpse lying against a tree, a blank expression seen as horrible stab wounds were seen all over her, blood surrounding the body.
Gumball was absolutely terrified, trembling as he didn't know what was happening. He glanced down at his paws, seeing himself covered in the substance. Her blood.
"N-No I didn't..." Shaking with fear, he noticed the state of the food that they just ate. The meal was smeared with blood stains, paw prints seen on them. The thought of it made his emotions worse. "I didn't..."
Remembering their kiss, he nearly puked.
"Oh my gosh! Is that Penny up there?!"
A crowd could be seen at the bottom of the hill, looks of anger and horror on their faces, some reading of fear as well. Unfortunately, Mr. Fitzgerald was part of it, looking distraught and full of rage the most. Gumball began backing away, but an unknown force stopped him. He tried to move, but he couldn't even work his legs, as he was stuck, forced to watch the crowd run up the hill.
Mr. Fitzgerald held Penny in his arms, distraught as he gently set her corpse onto the grass. Immediately, he turned towards Gumball with such a terrifying amount of rage. "YOU DID THIS!"
He grabbed the feline by the sweater collar, nearly strangling him, as his expression was twisted, full of emotion but not quite right. It was practically out of a nightmare.
"I-I didn't do it I swear!" The cat cried, as he struggled to breathe, the grip too strong to escape from. Why was this happening? Why was his girlfriend dead? He couldn't understand any of it and it only freaked him out.
