Chapter 26

It seemed like nothing had changed from the day before for the four of them, except that Remus and Sirius were definitely closer than ever.

Peter and James didn't question what had happened after they left the room, but they knew one thing for sure, Sirius hadn't been rejected.

James stood in front of the mirror, trying out different hairstyles. Eventually, he settled on his original look as it suited him best.

Sirius came up beside him, resting his arm on James' shoulder, making a loser sign with his hand and placing it under his chin. His long hair was tied back in a ponytail, giving him a cleaner appearance. He gave James a wink, who looked unbothered by him.

The bathroom door swung open, revealing Remus in his suit. Sirius tore his gaze away from James, instantly mesmerized by his boyfriend's appearance.

Remus let out a fake cough, snapping Sirius out of his daze.

"Jesus!" Sirius groaned, rubbing his face "How are you so perfect, babe?"

Peter choked on his own saliva at the endearment, shooting a glare at the two "Really, guys? Have some respect for the us"

Sirius chuckled "Alright, we'll give you the respect you deserve" He pulled a blushing Remus close "We'll head out first. See you guys!"

Once they closed the door behind them, Peter turned to James, who was still styling his hair. He had settled on slicking it back for a change.

"How are we going to get used to that?" Peter asked seriously.

"Tell me about it" James sighed, shaking his head.

Severus took one last glance in the mirror, gathering the bouquet of flowers into his arms before stepping out of his dormitory. In the common room, students were discussing their appearances with older and younger years.

Although when he showed himself, the chatter quieted as eyes turned his way. Severus didn't spare them a glance, and walked straight outside, where James told him to meet by their usual meeting place. He placed the flowers behind his back, ready for a surprise.

From a distance, Severus spotted James' figure. As he approached, his heart quickened with anticipation.

James turned at the sound of footsteps, and his lips parted in astonishment. The side of Severus' hair was tied back, revealing more of his features. The suit fit him perfectly which made his lean body prominent.

"Wow" James breathed, eyes wide "Your..wow"

Severus kissed his cheek and presented the flowers "Thank you. I could say the same for you" James had always been handsome, but dressed up with his hair slicked back, he looked even more stunning.

"Oh" James chuckled, revealing his own bouquet of flowers. They giggled in unison "Guess we had the same idea"

"Great minds think alike, i suppose" Severus replied with a warm smile.

James offered his arm, and Severus gladly took it "Shall we?"

They walked together towards the Great Hall where students are gathered around outside. The stares still happened but only to those who doesn't approve of their relationship, and most of them are Slytherins.

As they entered the ball, purple and blue lights greeted them, accompanied by a soft melody playing in the background.

"It's amazing here" Severus commented, taking in the surroundings "This doesn't look like the Great Hall"

James agreed and led him to where their friends were sitting. Remus and Sirius were deep in conversation, while Peter was nowhere to be seen.

"Congratulations on your marriage" Severus said as they approached.
