It was Monday morning when he was seen in the common room, kneeling before Severus, asking for forgiveness. When Severus ignored him and went back to his dorm, Archibald walked away.
Slytherins asked what happened to his face, as it looked worse and didn't appear that way when Sirius and he fought.
No one knew what happened, not even Archibald himself.
When breakfast was almost over, Severus forced himself to leave the room not because he was hungry but because James might be waiting for him.
However, he didn't expect to find him waiting outside the Slytherin common room, playing with a cat he had made from paper.
"Have you been waiting for a while?" Severus asked, and James lifted his head to look at him, immediately flashing a smile.
"Not really, Sirius didn't want me to go" He stood up and the paper cat flattened, returning as a normal paper "He probably forgot that he wasn't the one i'm courting"
Severus let out an amused snort as he let James took his hand "He'll get over it"
"Sure he will" He squeezed his hand and they walked together through the halls, ignoring the looks from the passerby's.
They knew people wouldn't let go of this anytime soon. It wasn't their business, but since students loved to pry into someone else's life, their relationship was sure to be a topic of gossip for a while.
The Great Hall was nearly empty, with only students who had woken up late eating. They sat down at the Gryffindor table, and James immediately started piling food onto Severus' plate, picking ones that he knew Severus liked.
"I have hands for a reason, James" Severus remarked dryly.
James grinned "I know, but i like taking care of you"
Severus hung his head down, letting his hair cover the blush on his cheeks. He picked up a spoon and added food to James' plate in return.
James watched the flustered boy with amusement. When Severus finally settled down to eat, James reached out and gently tucked a strand of Severus' hair behind his ear, revealing the faint red on his cheeks.
"You're adorable" James chuckled, pinching his cheek lightly.
Severus gave him a glare but made no move to stop him "Your insufferable" He grumbled "Shut up and eat"
James followed his orders energetically. He was fond of seeing this side of Severus and couldn't wait to see more of it.
Since they had transfiguration first, they went together, hand in hand, only letting go of each other when they entered the classroom. McGonagall eyed them both suspiciously, the students' whispers hadn't escaped her notice, and she wondered if the rumors were true.
When they saw Lily's usual seat was occupied by Marlene, James decided to sit beside Severus, leaving Sirius to sit alone. Sirius gave them both a dirty look before focusing on McGonagall, who had started the lesson.
Severus masked his discomfort as Lily avoided looking at him. It was clear that she was upset. She hadn't spoken to him ever since his relationship with James circulated around Hogwarts. He felt torn, uncertain whether he should talk to her or give her space.
His thoughts were interrupted by a hand gently placed on his knee, stopping it from bouncing nervously. He glanced down, then snapped his eyes to James, who seemed to be taking notes.
Until he slid his notebook towards him to see what he was writing about.
"Stop worrying so much. Everything will be fine. Trust me"
