As the ball drew nearer, the excitement among the fifth-year students grew. Dumbledore had made an exception to let them buy clothes from Hogsmeade or Diagon Alley, accompanied by one or two professors.

Severus already had something to wear, which he had transfigured, but for some reason, he found himself among the students shopping for clothes in Diagon Alley.

"So which do you think? This one or this?" Sirius held up two black outfits, one in each hand.

Severus glanced between the two options. There wasn't much difference, except one was a slightly lighter shade of black.

"That" Severus nodded toward the darker black outfit.

Sirius raised his eyebrows "Of course you picked that one" He said as he put the other suit back on the rack.

"Meaning...?" Severus taunted, mimicking Sirius' gesture. He did it better, it was his signature look, after all.

"You're a bat, you'd pick anything darker" Sirius answered, holding the suit against himself while admiring his reflection in the mirror "Yeah, nice choice. This does look better on me"

Severus rolled his eyes "Who are you trying to impress anyways?"

Sirius opened his mouth but then hesitated, rethinking his answer "The ladies, of course. This will get them for sure"

"When will you ever change, Black?" Severus sighed.

"Never, i like who i am" Sirius winked, causing Severus to visibly shiver in disgust.

They walked to the cashier to pay for the clothes, but Sirius soon spotted a few more suits. Severus found himself helping Sirius choose from the options, ensuring he picked something that truly suited him rather than just because it was darker.

After an hour and a half of Sirius still browsing through the racks, Severus realized he had free will and could walk out anytime. He got up from his seat and turned around just as Sirius gasped out loud.

"This!" Sirius held up a suit that Severus thought was really beautiful "Oh, this is perfect!"

The black jacket was cropped, which was a new sight to him. Underneath was a poet white shirt with a black tie, and a black vest wrapped around the torso decorated with silver shank buttons. The pants matched the jacket in fabric and color.

Severus nodded in approval "Please buy it already, i'm so sick of this place"

"You like it?" Sirius smoothed down the sleeve of the jacket.

"It's..sufficient" Severus replied simply.

Sirius looked at him, a glint in his eyes "Alright, wait for me outside. I won't take too long, promise"

It doesn't sound like a promise to Severus but he agreed nonetheless. He walked out the store and took a breath of fresh air.

He recognized a few students walking through the streets of Diagon Alley. He spotted Professor Slughorn with a group of friends, quickly realizing it was Bruce and the others.

It was an odd sight, seeing them happy with their head of the house. If only he continued being friends with them, he can see himself having a good time with them.

"Hey" Sirius called, coming up beside him with two bags in hand "I'm done. Should we head back?"

Severus didn't question what the other bag was for and agreed. They walked to the Floo Network, greeting Professor Flitwick in the process.

He hated to admit it, but Sirius wasn't a bad company. He'd been ignoring that fact for the past month. Since James was courting him, he figured befriending his friends wouldn't be a bad idea, and he was right.
