AT SCHOOL THE NEXT day he had brought you a coffee, even making sure to ask for how you like it beforehand. You so were so glad because for whatever reason you couldn't sleep much last night. It was like the universe decided the next day was going to be hell and Sugawara was your saving grace. Unbeknownst to you, today was still going to suck no matter how much Sugawara could cheer you up. 

The whole day was spent with people ragging on your accent extra hard, people commenting on your looks, and just being mean in general. You didn't even know why. Maybe the lack of socialization with your peers? That was the only reasonable explanation. Poor Sugawara had to hear about all of it at lunch. 

"Do you think my accents weird, or like too strong?" You said while staring at your untouched lunch tray. 

"No, why? He said with a mouth full of sandwich.

"Some people said it was hard to understand me in class." You responded, quickly glancing at him. 

"Who?" He put his sandwich down. 

"I don't know their names."

"Was anyone I know in the class when they said it?" 

"Daichi I think. Why?"

"No reason." You shrugged of his curiosity regarding the topic. "I think your accent is cool by the way." You smiled at his comment. It was nice of him to cheer you up but you were still feeling insecure about it, among other things. 

"Thanks Koushi." He let out a hum as a response and he went back to eating. You weren't super hungry so you didn't eat majority of your lunch. Sugawara had noticed and decided not to comment on it for now. 

Your classmates has calmed down on the harsh comments for the most part. Until the end of the school day. Some guy wouldn't stop referring to you as ugly your entire last class and the other kids had found is funny. You were miserable and you left class early with teacher permission.

The next day at school you felt like you would barely make it through the day. You tried your best to ignore what comments some guys were making. Sugawara had noticed and had asked the teacher very convincingly to let the two of you take a walk for a little while. He practically dragged you out of the classroom for this walk. 

"What's wrong?" He asked. 

"Nothing, I'm fine." 

"No you're not."

"Ye-" He cut you off.

"Don't lie." He was staring into your soul. It was scary how easily he was able to read you. It took a while for you to answer him. 

"I just kinda feel like shit recently. I know that's not like helpful but I just can't describe it you know?" 

"I get it. I'm here to talk though, even if you don't wanna hear any advise I can listen. Let me help you." You felt like you you could cry right then and there. Your eyes were starting to water and a tear or two did slip. As you went to wipe it away you felt a soft hand on your cheek beat you to it. "I promise I'll let you cry about it later but we have to go back soon and I don't wanna rush you." He had the most warm and caring expression on his face that made your heart melt. He gave you a hug and you two walked back to class in a comfortable silence. 

The school day went by much faster since you'd spoken with Sugawara. He texted you throughout the day to check up on you, it was cute. He's cute. He waited for you at the end of the day. He came over after school, only bothering to ask his parents on the way there. You two did homework together and somehow ended up on the wooden swing on your porch, your head in his lap. 

"You're gonna make me fall asleep Kou." You said as the boy played with your hair.

"Kou?"

"Shit, sorry just tired." You panicked a little internally. 

"No I like it." 

"Okay." You paused. "You're still gonna make me fall asleep." Your words had become increasingly more slurred as you spoke. 

"I don't see you trying to stop it." 

"Shut up." You mumbled in response, your eyes fluttering shut. He knew you were tired, even if you guys hadn't talked about everything bugging you yet he was content with just bringing some sense of comfort to you at the moment. He played with your hair while you napped. 

You woke after two hours, he was still playing with your hair when you woke up. You drew shapes on his knee with your fingers. 

"How was your nap?" He asked as he stopped playing with your hair.

" Comfy." You moved to sit up. "Still a little tired but if I sleep more I won't sleep tonight." The two of you sat in a comfortable silence for a little until you spoke up. "I guess I should talk about it?"

"If you want to I'm all ears." 

So you did, you talked about everything, how sick of it you were, how exhausting it was to hear people talk about you for no other reason then them being mean. You cried and he stuck to his words. He didn't give you any "oh just ignore them" bullshit. He rubbed circles on your back comfortingly while you cried. He dried your tears when you were done. He held you close even though everything had already been spilled. 

"I truly do think that you're one of the most amazing people ever and I'm here for you okay Y/N? Tell me next time, don't hold it in." He spoke to you softly and you hugged him tighter than you ever had. 

"Thank you Koushi." You're voice was a bit hoarse but neither of you cared. All that mattered in that moment was you and him. 

"You don't have to thank me." He mumbled and placed a kiss on your forehead. 

The rest of the day was comfortable but he did have to leave eventually. His parents came to pick him up and he held you in a hug for a good minute before he finally let you go.'

 "I'll see you tomorrow Y/N." You hummed in response and let waved him off.
