THE NEXT MORNING SHE was grumpy. Her parents could sense it and decided to leave her alone that morning before school. She put the pictures she took down under her bed, she didn't want to throw them away yet. She wasn't ready. She got her school supplies together and got ready.

When she got to school she was able to keep her mind on the school work and not him. Last period was the fastest of all, English. It was revealed that in her English class they were going to do a partnered project. They were allowed to pick partners and she internally panicked. She didn't know anyone so she just sat there awkwardly. The boy from her math class walked up to her, pulling her out of her thoughts. "Hey, I was wondering if you wanted to work together?" He asked, he seemed nervous.

"Sure?" she responded. She didn't know why he asked her; he seemed like he had plenty friends in the class.

They exchanged ideas back and fourth about the project. The goal was to pick a song sung in English and properly translate it and explain the meaning. Sugawara didn't know when he asked her to work together, but she was fluent in English; hell he didn't even know her name. They decided on "She Had the World" by Panic! At The Disco. She was actually very into the band, and was happy to hear that he knew the song.

"I'm scared it's gonna be bad." He nervously admitted.

"Oh I'm fluent in English; I feel like I should've mentioned that." She responded, his expression was one of shock. She laughed at his expression and he joined her. "My dad used to live in America so he taught me." She explained as they calmed down.

"That's so cool!" They got off topic pretty fast, eventually just talking about hobbies, music, and interests. He went on about Volleyball for quite a bit and she couldn't help but think that it was cute the way he lit up while talking about the sport and his team. He suddenly stopped mid rant, "I never got your name by the way." He nervously admitted.

"Y/N L/N" she responded with a slight laugh at his nervousness.

"Well L/N, I'm Koushi Sugawara! You can call me Suga though if you want." He was a little awkward when introducing himself but so was she so she didn't mind at all. "Also, can I get your number?" He asked before a flush came to his face and he stuttered slightly "For project reasons of course!" She nodded and laughed with him about how embarrassing it had sounded.

They pulled out their phones and exchanged number and even took pictures for the contacts. "I'll text you about when we can work on it later? I might be a little busy after school though." She admitted, her mind going to her ex's pictures under her bed.

"That's okay! I have practice after school anyway." He responded. Class ended shortly after and they said their goodbyes. She headed home, her parents out working on the farm when she arrived. She went to say hi to them and collect eggs from the chicken coop. After she put the eggs in a carton on the kitchen counter, she went up to her room and opened Instagram. The first think she saw was a post from her ex, she would be lying if she said he didn't look good in the photos but the caption just upset her. "i love myself more. not sorry." First of all, cringe. Second, what the actual fuck? She scrolled to the last picture and it was a picture of the glitter covered hoodie. She laughed at his attempt to make fun of her. She decided in that moment to be the bigger person and unfollow him. She opened her DMs and saw that almost all his friends had texted her. A shocking majority took her sad and were curious to see if she was okay. The other group just was calling her crazy, obsessive, a piece of shit, and other insulting things that sounded like they were written by a third grader.

The first DM from his friends was from his "best friend." He was actually really sweet in his text. "Hey I heard what happened between you guys. Just checking to see if you're okay? He was being a bitch about it and his story just doesn't add up." She responded and they shit talked him for a while before he had to go. They hadn't talked prior to this but he seemed like a nice guy.

She got up from her bed and grabbed the box of pictures, taking them out to the fire pit. She lit a match and burned them one by one, throwing them into the fire pit. It was stress reliving to burn them and she decided to be petty. She took a picture of the fire and put it on her Instagram story with the text "i hated your truck btw." Her parents joined her by the fire and asked what she was burning. She explained the situation and her mom was slightly disappointed; her dad, however, was livid. He mumbled something about how if he shows up at the house he's gonna be sorry about it. She laughed at her dad's comments and they all sat by the fire until they all decided it was time to put it out and go inside.

They ate dinner as a family, and she went up to her room for the night while her parents watched TV. She brushed her teeth and laid down in her bed, checking Instagram one last time before bed. Some of her ex's friends liked her story and she had a new follower.

"kousuga started following you"
