Apparently, another eternity passed, but Tatia never appeared.

We all probably thought she was cheating on us, though none of us said it out loud.

We arrived late in the evening.

We found a small empty area on the shore right next to the cottages, which we thought was just an unused lot. However, in the middle of that area, Freya, with Bonnie's spell, formed an invisible dome that we hoped Tatia would step into.

And she will not get out of it alive.

Yes, our expectations were high.

However... none of us were one hundred percent sure that the plan would work.

The leaders of the twelve witch clans stood in a large circle across the plot. They all had their hands clasped together and their heads down to the ground and their eyes closed, silently speaking spells. It was probably a meditation to concentrate for the fight, to gather all the energy.

Me, Klaus, Kevin, and Raphael stood nearby and waited for the sign when I, blade in hand, would be able to stand in the middle of that invisible dome.

Freya and Bone stood next to us and built a fire so that we wouldn't get cold.

It is strange that although the climate in New Orleans is humid, subtropical and even in winter the weather is mostly like autumn in New York, but now it is almost the end of summer and the climate has changed very much.

It should be hot as a sauna, but it was terribly cold. All my limbs, bones, muscles and joints ache.

Not only that, but I tried to hide this ailment from everyone as carefully as possible. Of course, there are several vampires around me who can smell blood within five kilometers. Still, I hoped that I was doing a perfect job of hiding my feelings, because no one had yet asked if I was okay.

I crawled over to the fire and sat on a log, curled up, hoping that the fire would help warm me at least a little. I could feel the chills coming over me, but at the same time I felt an overwhelming heat. The muscles became much more painful than before, and soon the temples began to ache as well.

My whole body was shivering from the cold and heat attack at the same time. Taking a deep breath, I felt that one side of my nose was blocked. I put my palm on my forehead. Everything seemed to be on fire. I started rubbing my palms together as if it would help me warm up at least a little.

While everyone who was frozen warmed by the fire, and while the witches gathered for battle, I stood up with barely a foot, with sore muscles, and began pacing back and forth.

I kept looking at Tatya's blade from all sides, turning it over in my hands, wondering if it would really be as effective as Freya said, and if I could really kill the enemy with it.
