The morning air was heavy with an unsettling quiet that Meera couldn't shake off. She had noticed her parents whispering in hushed tones over the past few days, casting furtive glances in her direction. A sense of foreboding gnawed at her, but she pushed it aside, clinging to the secret letters and messages from Arjun that sustained her.

That evening, as Meera was about to retreat to her room, her father called her into the living room. The seriousness in his voice sent a shiver down her spine.

"Meera, we have something important to discuss," he said, motioning for her to sit down. Her mother and brother were already seated, their expressions unreadable.

"Appa, what is it?" Meera asked, her voice trembling slightly.

Her father took a deep breath before speaking. "We have found a suitable match for you. The boy comes from a good family, and we believe this alliance will be beneficial for everyone."

Meera's world tilted on its axis. She felt like the ground had been pulled out from under her feet. "What? No, Appa, you can't do this. I... I'm not ready for this."

Her mother placed a comforting hand on her arm. "Meera, we understand this is sudden, but we have to think about our family's future. You will meet him tomorrow. Give it a chance."

Meera shook her head, her heart pounding. "I can't. There's someone else... I love Arjun."

Her father's expression hardened. "We have already discussed this. Arjun is not suitable for you. This engagement is for your own good. Trust us."

Tears filled Meera's eyes as she looked at her family, feeling utterly betrayed. She knew arguing further would be futile. The decision had been made, and her wishes were secondary.

That night, Meera sat in her room, staring blankly at the letter she had received from Arjun earlier. The words of love and hope now felt like a cruel mockery of her situation. How could she tell him about this? How could she bear to break his heart?

With trembling hands, she picked up her phone and typed a message to Arjun.

"Arjun, I need to see you. It's urgent. Can we meet tomorrow?"

His reply was immediate. "Of course, Meera. Anything for you. I'll be at our usual place."

The next day, Meera met Arjun at their favorite spot in the park, a secluded area where they had shared so many cherished moments. Seeing him standing there, with hope and love in his eyes, made her heart ache even more.

"Meera, what's wrong?" he asked, concern lacing his voice as he took her hands in his.

Tears spilled over as she struggled to find the words. "Arjun, my family... they've arranged my engagement. They expect me to meet him tomorrow."

Arjun's face paled, and his grip tightened on her hands. "No, Meera. This can't be happening. We promised each other we would find a way."

"I know," she sobbed, "but they're determined. I don't know what to do. I can't lose you, Arjun."

He pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly as if he could shield her from the harsh reality. "We'll figure something out. We have to."

They spent the next few hours talking, strategizing, and clinging to each other, desperate for a solution. But as the sun dipped below the horizon, reality set in. The path ahead was fraught with obstacles, and the time they had was running out.

That evening, as Meera returned home, she felt a strange mix of dread and resolve. She would meet the boy her parents had chosen, but her heart remained with Arjun. She knew she had to find a way to honor her love for him, no matter how difficult it might be.

And as she lay in bed that night, clutching the letters and messages from Arjun, she whispered a silent promise to herself. She would fight for their love, no matter the cost. For in a world where dreams were currency, their love was the most precious dream of all.
