The next day, a knock on the door woke Dominic out of his sleep. He grunted while getting up to answer the door.
He took a couple seconds to realize it was Elijah.
"Give me a second," Dominic muttered, going to Sasha's room.
He knocked on her door before walking in. Dominic patted her ankle, causing her to aim a gun at his head.
"Elijah is here for his girlfriend," Dominic said, unfazed by the weapon pointed at him.
"He can come in," Sasha said, her head returning to the pillow.
Dominic went back to the door.
"Come in," Dominic said, stepping aside.
Elijah stepped into the house while taking in his surroundings. Dominic closed the front door behind him.
"Second room, on the right. She's not allowed to perform spells today," Dominic said.
"What happened," Elijah asked.
"Pushed herself too hard last night and passed out," Dominic responded.
He returned to his room to get ready for a shower. Elijah knocked on Lake's bedroom door before walking inside.
"Lake," Elijah called out.
She opened her eyes to greet him. A look of confusion rested on her face.
"Did I butt-dial you," Lake asked, sitting up in bed.
"No, I received a call from Ace," Elijah smirked, leaning against the threshold, "He said you weren't feeling too well."
Last night's events flooded back into her mind.
"I tried to save Finn, but I wasn't strong enough," Lake said.
Elijah's eyes drifted to the side. A brief look of sadness spread across his face.
"Did he suffer?"
"No. He... He smiled," Lake said, her eyes going bloodshot just thinking about it.
"You made him happy," Elijah whispered, walking towards her.
"Dominic made him happy," Lake corrected, "I'm so sorry, Elijah."
"Don't be. Your friend gave Finn something he hasn't had in over 900 years," Elijah said, "He gave him hope."
