Once downstairs, Y/N spotted Taehyung stylishly dressed in a black shirt and trousers, looking expensively ethereal as he sat at the dining table engrossed in his phone. His grandfather sat beside him, elegantly dressed in a tailored suit, reading some documents. A middle-aged man stood beside him, whom Y/N guessed must be the butler.
Hearing her heels clicking, Mr. Kim, Taehyung's grandfather, turned towards her with a warm smile. "Good morning," he greeted, "You look lovely today."
"Good morning," Y/N replied, offering a polite smile in return and thanking him for the compliment.
Taehyung raised his eyes, his gaze briefly taking in Y/N's form lingering on her perfect feachers, he observed her in the dress which he selected in satisfying expression, as his gaze returning to his phone with an impassive expression. Mr. Kim gestured for her to take a seat across from Taehyung, and she complied, feeling the intensity of Taehyung's silent scrutiny.
"How is your ankle?" Mr. Kim asked, his tone genuinely concerned. "Did you sleep well?"
Y/N nodded. "It's much better, thank you. And I slept alright," she replied calmly, though the couch had been far from comfortable.
As the food was served, Taehyung finally put his mobile down, his attention shifting to the meal. The aroma of freshly prepared breakfast filled the room, the table set with an array of meticulously presented dishes. The sight of the food made Y/N realize just how hungry she was.
As they continued their breakfast, Mr. Kim spoke with a calm authority, "Now that you are married, Y/N, it's important that you try to adjust. I understand this situation is not ideal, but we must make the best of it."
Taehyung, who had been silently eating, grunted in response. His tone was laced with sarcasm as he interjected, "Don't give her any false hopes, Grandfather. Let's not pretend this marriage is anything more than a business arrangement."
Y/N's grip on her fork tightened, her appetite diminishing with every word. The tension at the table was palpable, the atmosphere heavy with unspoken resentments.
Mr. Kim shot Taehyung a disapproving look but continued, "Taehyung, there's no need for such harshness. Y/N is part of this family now, and we should treat her with respect."
Taehyung's gaze hardened as he looked directly at Y/N, his eyes cold and unyielding. "Respect is earned, not given. And let's be clear, this marriage changes nothing for me. I have no intention of playing the doting husband."
Y/N met his stare, her own eyes filled with defiance. "I'm not looking for a doting husband, Taehyung. I just want to get through this without any more hostility than necessary."
Taehyung's expression remained unchanged. "Good. As long as we're clear on that."
Mr. Kim sighed, his frustration evident. "Both of you need to find a way to coexist peacefully. This is your reality now, and the sooner you accept it, the better it will be for everyone."
