The rain beat mercilessly upon your cold skin, drenching your hair and streaming down your face, obscuring what was water and what was tears.
In this moment, you remembered one thing: you remembered the price of becoming a demon. Whatever happy memories you acquired would ultimately be lost in the wind. You stood beside your brother under the empty night sky that was shrouded in clouds.
"Brother, do you think Father was happy?" You questioned yourself as you stared down at the headstone. Yoriichi was quiet, contemplating your words carefully.
"Of course he was," he said in response. Some time had passed, though it had only been a few years. Your father's health has taken a sudden decline since your return. You knew it wasn't your fault at all, but you felt like you were an omen of disaster.
You turned to your brother, his face downcast as he stared at your father's resting place.
"That's good. Even though he accepted who I was, I still felt like I was troubling him." You expressed this while gazing at the memorial for your father.
"Brother, I have a request."
"What is it?" Yoriichi questioned.
You closed your eyes, looking deep within yourself. You could feel your second brain within you, and instantly you cut it off from all your senses and destroyed it.
Blood poured out of your mouth, causing you to cough. Before a concerned Yoriichi could come, you held your hand up to stop him before grumbling, "I'm fine.".
"I just temporarily cut off all connections to Muzan. Muzan's ability to read other demons's thoughts only works on anything tainted by his." Yoriichi nodded. You had already explained this before, and you were wondering where you were going with this.
"However, my original brain seems to be a 'purified', though it's still demonic. I once ripped off my head and smashed it to see if I'd die; however, it just regenerated, with my original brain being tainted as it lacked any demon instincts." You explained.
"I'm getting off topic. Do you know a demon named Tamayo?"
Yoriichi's expression clearly changed—a face of caution that told you all you needed to know.
"You do? Tell her that I have the same goal as her. She will be someone imperative to taking that man down." You stated this before turning away from your father's grave.
You had been away from your shrine for a while now, and you genuinely wondered how everyone was doing in your absence. Your divination ability assured you that they should be fine, but you seemed to have developed some attachment to that place.
"Yori. Come visit as often as you can; let's practice so I can get stronger. That man is in hiding from you, so you probably won't ever see him again."
"I know Y/N. So you want me to train you for this eventual battle against Muzan?" He asked yet already knew the answer, as your expression said it all.
"Yes," you said.
"Let's go back to the estate first. It's still raining; you can return to your shrine in a few days."
Both you and Yoriichi returned back to your family home; the atmosphere had clearly turned depressive as most servants didn't hide their melancholy.
"Welcome." Called a woman's voice. "Yoriichi, Y/N. I'm sorry for your loss." You turned to see a woman in her thirties followed behind by two boys, one being a late teenager and the other roughly being around ten.
