“Well unfortunately we can’t operate without permission from her legal guardian and we’ll need to operate if she’s to survive. She has many deep wounds and we need to stitch up her insides as well as the out.” The nurse told me. “We’ll need to open her up to see the extent of the damage and fix it. Is Ms L/n’s legal guardian on their way?”

“Her mom isn’t coming, I don’t think she cares if the girl lives or dies.” I sighed. “Would I be able to sign the forms?”

“I see.” The nurse shook her head. “Unfortunately, we get this a lot. There’s a counter around the corner, you or someone else can go, it doesn’t make a difference to me. If her legal guardian isn’t fit to be her guardian someone else can go fill out that paperwork and become her legal guardian.”

I nodded and moved toward the counter labeled adoption. Was I seriously about to adopt a teenager? I’m practically a kid myself. I can’t be someone’s parent!

Even though my mind was running, my body was filling out the forms. My signature was on the papers, I handed them back through the window, this is it, when this guy stamps that box I’ll be someone’s legal guardian. “That’s all sir, you now have full custody of Y/n M/n L/n. You’ll be able to follow her into the ICU and sign off on her medical paperwork.”

“Will her previous guardian be notified?” I questioned.

“Yes. Most of the time mothers will abandon babies, that’s why this counter is here, but occasionally you get a situation like yours. We’ve already contacted the person you listed here as witness' ' (Aizawa) “to her old guardian being unfit and he confirmed. Considering you are both pro heroes and the child’s life is in danger, I’ll deal with the nitty gritty later. Now go sign her forms so they can operate on her.”

“Thank you.” I put down the pen and started flying back towards where the nurse was. “Okay, all done, what do I need to sign so she survives?”

When I was done signing those forms she gave the clipboard to another nurse who hurried off into the ICU. “Since you’re now her legal guardian you’re allowed into the ICU, there’s a window that looks into the operation room if you want, if not you’re free to stay here.”

Your pov

My head is pounding, my throat is dry, and what on earth is that horrible beeping noise? Fuck, I probably died. This is hell. Not as hot as I thought it’d be. I groaned and opened my eyes, I’m in a hospital room? Oh yeah, Hawks rescued me from some villains after I had been stabbed. Speaking of Hawks, he’s here? I looked to the corner of my room and saw Hawks asleep in a chair. “Hawks?”

He jolted awake. “Hey kid, how ya feeling?”

He got up and walked over to me, “I’m okay. Shouldn’t you be on patrol? And how’s Katsuki?”

“Those are questions for later,” he reached above my head for the button to call the nurse and pressed it. “Are you sure you’re okay? You’ve been asleep for a month, no one knew when you were going to wake up or if you were going to.”

“A month!?” I yelled and found that the strain hurt. “Did, um, did my mom come by?”

The nurse walked in and Hawks immediately changed the subject as they talked about my vitals and the intense recovery I was going to go through. When Hawks walked out to call Aizawa the nurse turned to talk to me for the first time. “You know, you’re very lucky. Not many heroes would up and adopt a civilian to save their life.”

“What do you mean?” She pointed at Hawks with her eyes as she finished removing the IV from my left arm. She giggled as she left and Hawks walked back in. “Hawks, what did she mean adopted?”
