I stand next to Michelle's crib, shaking my head as I supervise the boys changing her. "All right," Jesse says. "And the diaper is..." Joey asks, closing her diaper. "ON," he replies, then picks her up and places her in the crib.
I check my watch and nod. "Great! Seventeen minutes," I say, then look back at the boys. "You guys beat your old record by thirty-seven minutes," I tell them. They high-five each other, then glance at their hands and back at one another. "Baby wipes," they say in unison.
Jess grabs the baby wipes, pulling out way more than he needs, and breaks off two for himself and Joey. "Whup!", "Pah!" They say together, tossing the wipes into the trash can in front of the changing table. "Alright, are you guys done being extra?" I ask them
"Hold it. I'm about to make a quantum leap in diaper theory," he says. "Go with it. Go with it," Jess says. "If we triple the diaper, we get three times the protection, but we change her one-third as often," Joey explains. I can't help but facepalm at his so-called "theory."
