Chapter 20

Cassian's boastful laugh filled my ears and it took me a few seconds to process I should not be staying put like a weirdo enjoying the deep thunderous sound.

"The tiny beast knows her facts! I did beat your ass, Rhys. Also Az, everyone knows you're just a sensitive boy."

I laugh along for a moment before his words fully registered and my mouth fell open. Roxy reached the same conclusion as I about a second later and of course she commented on it.

"Tiny beast?"

I give Roxanne a playful hit over her head.

"YOU can't call me that, cuz I'm taller than you! Roxy, I'm sorry to remind you but out of us two you're still more tiny."

Roxanne rolled her eyes at me crossing her arms giving me an incredulous look.

"So what you're just gonna let the nickname stick?"

Does she really not get it? I'd keep ANY nickname Cassian would be willing to give me but especially this one!

"Yes of course I am! Cuz I consider it a damn compliment. The guys an Illyrian warrior nickname as General of Bloodshed and he called me a beast, tiny but still a beast! At the very least that must mean he considers me unpredictable, right?"

I turn to look at Cassian who apparently found my reaction quite funny and nodded along to my words without a fight.

"And being unpredictable is what I ultimately aim for! Plus it's an original nickname. I like it, I can't write it down right now but I like it."

Giving tall oak freaking tree of a man a smile I turn to give my cousin the same on, my hands proudly poised on my hips. It was a nickname given to me by my biggest fictional crush and not only that but it was freaking amazing, I'd proudly wear a hoodie with "Cassian's Tiny Beast" written on it, was I supposed to be annoyed?!

And quite honestly I know he likely made up the nickname on the run because he couldn't be bothered to remember my name at that moment but I am still very happy with it.

"You're just a softie for him cuz he's your favorite!"

Oh Roxanne's words were definitely an attack for the tiny comment...

"First off, only until book 3 and a half, maybe more so 4 afterwards they all get on my nerves! Except maybe Eris but just cuz he stayed the same and because fanfics have influenced me. And anyways don't act like you haven't been giving Elaine nasty looks!"

She rolled her eyes.

"Or maybe Azriel would like to know he's your all time favorite until he becomes, and I'm quoting you, a pushover?!"

That did earn me a punch into the gut but it was fully worth it to see Azriel's shocked confused face and Cassian's somehow excited? Why does he even look happy?

"What exactly does past the middle of book three mean?"

And Rhysand's gone back to questioning us, just great!
