Taylors Pov
I count the steps in my head a I sing along to Karma. It's been a perfect show so far, a rain shows one of my personal favorites, and I'm literal minutes away from being back in Travis's arms. Today is my 8th show in London and my last show before my month-long break. Travis flew out to surprise me and I couldn't wait to be able to touch him again. Between the weeks of facetimes, texting, and teasing back and forth over the phone I just knew neither one of us were going to be sleeping tonight.
"And I keep my side of the street clean." You can hear my smile as I sing the lyrics whilst I do the 'karma dance' as the fans have dubbed it.
I go to take the next step but my foot slides on the slippery rain and before I can stable myself, I feel myself slip and drop onto the stage. I reach my hand out to try and brace the fall, my wrist getting bent in a way that it should not bend in the process. I let out a shriek and the stadium fall quiet as I clutch my wrist against my chest, but the show must go on. I wince as I pull myself back to my feet quickly singing the next lyrics while trying to make my voice sound as normal as possible without giving away how much pain I'm in. I finish the song, my wrist staying tucked against my abdomen, so I don't further jostle it. By the time they are lowering me down there are tears in my eyes and I'm struggling not let them fall. When I'm fully under the stage I'm met by a team of medics, Tree, my dad, and most importantly Travis.
My legs shook as I reached my good arm out to Travis who immediately rushed to my side scooping me up ensuring my wrist remained untouched.
"It hurts." I whimpered into Travis's neck as he walked us over to my dressing room.
"I know baby girl, I know it does, but the medics are gonna help you out ok." He tried to sooth me while he sat down on the small couch in the corner of the room. I nod and warily stretched my arm out to the medic in front of me letting him examine it.
I couldn't stop the yelp that came after the medic pressed on my wrist sending a piercing pain throughout my arm. A tear trailed its way down my already damp face as I shivered. I was starting to realize how cold I was from the rain now that some of the adrenalin had worn off and my current attire was not helping.
"What exactly happened, how did you land on it?" The medic looked up from my wrist for a moment, signaling for someone else to come over.
"I went to take the next step in the dance, but I slipped on the rain." I started to explain leaning forward slightly so Tree could wrap towel around me. I felt Travis pull my wet hair off my neck, so it was resting on the towel before I cuddled back into his chest. "I tried to catch myself, but I landed on my hand funny and it like twisted under me." I sniffled trying my hardest not to break down in front of total strangers.
The medic nodded checking my reaction to when he touched certain parts before standing up and pealing his gloves off. "I'm not able to tell with just a physical examine so you're going to end up having to get an x-ray to determine if it's a fracture or just a sprain. Either way you're likely going to need to have some form of brace so it can heal properly without being put through too much strain."
"So, should we take her to the hospital now, correct? And can we get her out of the costume, or do we not want to risk hurting her wrist further?" Travis rubbed my side through the sparkly fabric of my bodysuit.
"Yes, take her now and as long as you are very gentle with it you should be able to get her into some more comfortable attire."
"Great, Tree if you wanna make sure the car is ready to go I can help her get dried off and changed." Travis shifted me in lap so he could set me on the couch.
"Yeah sure, I'll also start a draft on a statement we can release later." Tree squeezed my shoulder giving me an empathetic smile before walking out of the room signaling for everyone else to follow.
