~The first letter~
'Dear Pen Pal,
Hi, my name is Taylor it's nice to meet you. I'm really excited to get to know you so I thought I would tell you a few things about myself. I am twelve years old and am in sixth grade. I'm from Pennsylvania and I live with my mom and dad and have one younger brother whose name is Austin. I like to sing and play my guitar, it's my dream to one day become a singer and move to Nashville. I'm always begging my parents to let us move there because that's where everyone goes to make it big. I've always loved country music even though most people don't consider it cool, I think it's awesome. What kind of music do you like? A few random facts about me are that my favorite color is purple, my favorite food is chicken nuggets, I love winter and Christmas, and my favorite animals are cats and squirrels. I really can't wait to get your letter, and I hope we can become friends!

Hi my names Travis. I really enjoyed your letter and I'm super excited to be your pen pal too! I guess I'll tell you the same stuff you told me (I'm not really sure how this is supposed to work so I'll figure it out as I go, I guess) I am also twelve and am in sixth grade. I'm from Ohio and I live with my parents and my big brother Jason. We have a cat named Flash and he's the coolest, I once saw him catch a bird midair. Do you have any pets? You said you like cats which is why I'm wondering. When I grow up, I want to be a pro football player and maybe even be in the NFL. I play for my school's football team and so does my brother. We usually play together to help each other get in some extra practice and it's always really fun. I think it's really cool that you want to be a country singer, I defiantly can't sing, whenever I try Jason throws something at my head. I guess I'll tell you a few extra random facts since you told me some. My favorite color is blue, my favorite food is burgers, and my favorite sport is football which I guess you could probably tell already. I don't really know what else to say so I think I'll end it off here, I hope we can become friends too.

~Opening up~
'Dear Travis,
Hey Trav, I'm writing this kind of late so sorry if I spell some words wrong. I had a pretty bad day at school so I'm hoping writing to you will help take my mind off of it. Some of the girls at school found out I want to be a singer and took my notebook and started reading some of my songs. They wouldn't give them back and kept teasing me about it saying I wasn't cool or pretty enough to be a singer. I'm trying not to let them get to me but it's not working very well. Their voices keep repeating in my head, the way they laughed while reading my lyrics it's just getting loud, and I want them to stop. Sorry if that's too much, I don't mean to be an attention seeker I just needed a way to get it out and I don't really feel about the other kind of writing about it because of today.
How Flash? Last time you said you hadn't seen him in a week, and I was wondering if he's shown up again. I know we said no pictures of each other, but I was wondering if you could send me a picture of him. If you can't that's ok, I just want to know what he looks like.
On a brighter note, mom said we might be getting a new piano soon since our old one doesn't work very well anymore. I'm really excited because that will mean I can use it to write even more songs. And I got the part in the school play I was hoping for! I'm not the main character just one of the side characters but I thought she was really cool and no one else was auditioning for the part so it was basically a guarantee that I would get it. I'm still really excited about it though. How was the game by the way? I'm sure you did great. I've started watching a bit of football with my dad so I can understand when you are talking about when you tell me about your games now.
