The night had fallen, and the soft glow of the lamp illuminated your bedroom shared with Kikoru. As you flipped through the pages of the storybook, you sang the words, turning them into a soothing lullaby. The melody wrapped gently around the room, filling it with a serene calmness. From the doorway, your parents stood, silently listening and watching as Kikoru's eyelids grew heavy.
When you finished the lullaby, Kikoru mumbled sleepily, "(Y/N)-nee... Do you think we can be like Mom and Dad?" Her innocent question made you smile, touched by her cuteness.
"Of course, Lil' Sis," you reassured her, your voice is warm and gentle. "We will help each other just like they do." You kissed her forehead and gave her a soft, affectionate hug.
As you tucked her into bed and glanced back at your parents, who were beaming with pride, you felt a warm blush spread across your cheeks. They giggled softly and entered the room, giving you goodnight kisses on your forehead, just as they did with Kikoru.
You and your mom then sat on your bed, close to Kikoru's. She looked at you with a serious yet loving expression, "(Y/N), promise me, no matter what happens, always help and protect your little sister, okay?"
"Of course!" you replied, a genuine smile lighting up your face, your heart filled with determination and love.

As the siren blared through the exam site, the urgent announcement from the drones echoed: "Emergency! Emergency! All examinees are to evacuate to the nearest shelter immediately."
Panic erupted behind you. "What the hell? The Honju is moving!"
"Run for it!"
You could hear the frantic footsteps of others fleeing behind you. "Useless," you muttered, spitting blood onto the ground. "Evacuation will do no good if this thing kills everyone."
Both of you struggled to stand, pushing through the pain you tried to suppress. "I made a promise to Mom," you said, feeling your irises shift to their Kaiju form. "No matter what happens..." You steadied yourself, shielding your body with your gun in front of the kaiju, bracing for the impending impact. "I will protect you, no matter the cost."
"Shut up," Kikoru muttered, her face stained with blood, the stress taking its toll. "You weren't there when I needed you..." She slapped you hard across the face. "That's why I need to be perfect!"
Suddenly, without warning, the Honju's massive hand struck both of you, sending you flying. Instinctively, you wrapped yourself around Kikoru, using your body as a shield. You crashed into the nearby debris, the impact forcing more blood from your mouth as you held her gently, trying to cushion her from the worst of the blow.
