"And after that, they subjected me to countless experiments, hoping to reverse the effects of my transformation into a Kaiju. Parts of my core were even repurposed into special weapons. So far, no cure has been found. But despite it all, I've been able to live like a human, at least." You smiled as you faced them, trying to infuse your words with a semblance of normalcy. "And that's how I became a Kaiju—well, half a Kaiju, since my core is fused with my human heart in half."
Kafka's tears flowed freely, his eyes brimming with empathy and sorrow. Reno's face mirrored deep concern, his brows furrowed as he processed your story. You glanced over at Kikoru; her reaction was a mix of shock and sorrow, a few tears welling up in her eyes as she wiped it away.
"Um... it's not that sad, you know," you said, offering a gentle, reassuring laugh despite the gravity of your tale.
"What do you mean, not sad? It is sad!" Kafka comically sneezed into a tissue, his exaggerated reaction drawing a few chuckles.
"Well, I guess it is," you said softly, a hint of melancholy in your voice. "Right now, everyone I know doesn't know me." You glanced at Kikoru, who met your gaze with a concerned look. "Well, except Kikoru-chan and Kafka-san," you added with a small smile, trying to lighten the mood.
"Why?" Kikoru asked, her expression serious. "Why can't we remember you all these years?"
You smiled wistfully, a touch of pity in your eyes. "Have you heard about the Siren of the Defense Force?"
"The Siren? Like the ambulance?" Kafka asked innocently, his confusion evident.
Reno gave him a disbelieving look. "Really Sir?"
"What? I didn't know anything about it!" Kafka protested, a bit defensively.
You softly giggled at their exchange before turning back to Kikoru. "The Siren... I've heard it was the one who lures the Kaijus to the battlefield. Its voice was described as angelic and out of this world. It was used to lure Kaijus and prevent the city from getting destroyed; that's why back then, the battles with Kaijus were easier than they are now," Kikoru said thoughtfully, her thumb resting on her chin.
"That's right," you confirmed, meeting her eyes. "That was me, the one called the Siren. I can command and manipulate Kaijus. By my voice, they follow my orders."
Their eyes widened in shock. "What the...?" Kafka muttered, unable to fully process the revelation.
"I can also do it to humans," you continued, your voice tinged with regret. "But I rarely do that. The last time I used it was six years ago, when I made everyone forget me and manipulated their memories to erase any trace of myself." You sighed deeply, the weight of the past evident in your tone. "I don't know how you remembered me, to be honest. I have a theory, but it's still under observation. I had my reasons for leaving, and I am truly sorry."
