Her wings reverted, the ethereal, angelic feathers shrinking back into her body, transforming into a snake-like texture that slithered beneath her skin. Now, standing between Kaiju No. 8 and Soshiro, her humanoid petite, Kaiju form exuded an air of quiet menace.
The tension between them hung thick in the air, but what caught Soshiro off guard was the look on her face-a doll-like mask of surprise and something more, an emotion he couldn't quite place.
Her crystal-blue eyes locked onto Soshiro's, and for a moment, she seemed lost in thought, as if searching through memories long buried. Recognition dawned in her gaze, and with a bitter smile, she spoke, her voice soft yet laced with an old sorrow. "So the clan survived," she murmured, the words almost to herself.
There was something else in that smile-a hint of nostalgia, perhaps even longing. "You really look like him," she added, the words carrying the weight of a painful past. The resemblance between Soshiro and someone from her memories-someone she once held dear-was unmistakable.
"I don't know what you're talking about," Soshiro replied coldly, his eyes narrowing as he shifted into a poised attacking stance. "But now that there are two Kaiju, I must kill you both."
Without hesitation, he lunged towards their position, his movements blindingly fast and precise. Both Kafka and the Kaiju standing between them-Kirine-instinctively jumped backward, narrowly avoiding his deadly strikes. Soshiro's attacks were on a completely different level; his speed and agility were far beyond what any ordinary human could achieve.
'The attacks are so fast, my defenses can't keep up,' Kafka thought, his mind racing as he focused on hardening his Kaiju skin, particularly around his torso to protect his core. 'If I just consider his movement alone, he's way faster than that humanoid from earlier...'
Suddenly, a voice echoed in Kafka's mind, interrupting his thoughts. "Hey, are you Kaiju No. 8?" Confusion flickered across Kafka's features, and in that split second of distraction, Soshiro seized the opportunity.
From beneath his gas mask, Soshiro whispered,
"Hoshina Style Sword-Slay Technique, First Form: Air Slicer."
The blade cut through the air with an invisible force, slicing through Kaiju No. 8's left arm and shoulder. Despite Kafka's attempt to dodge, the slash penetrated even his hardened skin, leaving a deep wound that exposed a glimmer of his core.
Soshiro's sharp eyes immediately locked onto the small, exposed area. "Core location confirmed," he murmured with deadly intent, readying himself for the final strike.
'Ugh, I got distracted by Umiha...' Kafka thought, cursing his lapse in focus. 'On that note, I'm not really human anymore...' He quickly began regenerating the wounds, covering his core with a fresh layer of hardened skin.
