Chapter 12

Reader's POV

"So, what was that yesterday about me being Alpha?" I asked Aaron.

We were walking down the hall and heading to werewolf class together. I tried contacting Aphmau earlier, but she wasn't responding to any of my texts.

Aaron looked away, hiding his face. "Nothing. It was nothing."

"Uhuh... I'll find out Aaron. Sooner or later, I will find out."

Aaron looked at me worried.

I smiled at him.

He looked away again. If it was out of embarrassment or fear... I'm not sure.

We came across a hallway. We both paused and looked to see Aphmau and Gene talking to each other. The two looked at us.

"Hmph!" Aphmau turned away from us.

"That stupid potato." Aaron grumbled under his breath, he took my hand and dragged me around the corner.

"Ah! Aaron!" I blushed, pulling my hand away. I quickly composed myself.

Aaron turned to me, "Sorry."

"You're fine. Um, I just have to check on Aphmau."

"Why?"

"Well... She's my friend. I wanna make sure Gene doesn't hurt her."

Aaron growled at the mention of Gene's name. I forget the two have a rivalry, Aaron's told me about it a few times.

"You go on to werewolf class. I'll catch up in a bit." I assured.

"Fine." Aaron sighed, leaving to go to werewolf class.

I walked back to the hallway where Aph and Gene were.

I turned the corner and like the main character I am, I crashed into someone and fell on my butt. Ouch!

I looked up. It had to be Gene... Of course. Well... at least I didn't lose them.

"Oh! It's my favorite freshie." Gene smirked down at me.

"Yeah, yeah." I sighed, using the wall as leverage to help myself up.

"Well, what's got you falling for me?"

I raised a brow at him. Is he trying to flirt with me?! "...Usually when someone bumps into a person and falls, they'd appreciate a helping hand. Not whatever you're trying to do."

Gene rolled his eyes, "Yeahhhh. Why're you over here and not with that Aaron guy?"

I saw my opportunity and I took it. "So, you're curious? Are you jealous?" I teased, recalling yesterday.

Gene gave me a deadpanned look.

"No. I just came to join your dumb club." I sighed, crossing my arms.

"Ah! So, you're interested in joining my gang?"

Aphmau popped up from behind him, "Y/N! You're joining the Shadow Knights?!" She said in bewilderment.

I shrugged my shoulders, "Maybe?"

"Well, that's great; because we're skipping school today!" Gene said with amusement.

Aphmau slumped her shoulders, obviously not wanting any part in skipping.

I patted her shoulder in comfort and we followed Gene out of the school.

We finally made it to the park. We were crossing the bridge when Aphmau decided to speak up. "I swear if you get me into any more trouble outside of skipping-"
