Chapter 20

Reader's POV

Aph, Vylad and I were hanging out in the soccer field during lunch. Aphmau was practicing witch craft while Vylad and I were there supporting her.

"Puppies Maximus!" Aph waved her wand around, trying to turn a pumpkin into a hundred puppies.

When nothing happened, the crickets chirped in mockery of Aphmau's witchcraft skills.

"Maybe with more feeling? Um, what about... DANKEST MEMESUS!" She waved her wand around again in hopes of summoning the puppies.

Aphmau's shoulders slumped. "Ugh! That's it! I give up... I'm never gonna get a hundred puppies..."

"Are you sure you're doing the spell right?" Vylad asked, standing up from his seated position.

"I was! See! Here on this page, it says I should be able to summon 100 puppies by using these magic words!" Aphmau pointed to the page in reference to the spell she was trying to cast.

Vylad and I looked over her shoulder at the book. "Hm... Have you tried saying please?" Vylad asked.

The pumpkin began to glow, blinding the three of us. Once the light faded, a potato was revealed.

"Woah..." My eyes widened.

"Huh? You did that on purpose!" Aphmau accused Vylad.

Vylad held his hands up in surrender. "No I didn't! I did? Gah! Sorry, sorry! I'm not sure exactly how witchcraft works!"

"Here, let me try." I grabbed Aphmau's wand from her grasp. I'm not exactly doing the best in witchcraft, but if I can make a hundred puppies appear, I'll take that win.

I waved the wand over the potato. "Skedaddle, skadoodle, this potato is now a cluster of poodles!"

Light emerged from the potato blinding us once again. Opening our eyes, the potato was replaced by a stuffed goldendoodle plush.

"That's not even a puppy or a poodle..." I sighed, defeated.

Aphmau rubbed her temples as she groaned. "It's fine, it's not like I have an exam coming up for it or anything..."

I glanced at Aphmau, I completely forgot we had an exam in witchcraft class...

"You don't?" Vylad let out a sigh of relief. "That's good."

"Do you understand sarcasm?" Aph asked Vylad.

"Yes."

"Are you being sarcastic about that?"

"Noo..." Vylad shook his head.

"In any case, this is the first free period we've had with you in a long time, Vylad. Did you want to do anything in particular?" Aphmau asked Vylad, moving on from her witchcraft practice.

Vylad hummed in thought. "Well, it's magicks and witchcraft week, isn't it?"

"It's just called spirit week." Aph corrected.

"I wanna go check out the bake sale going on in the cafeteria!" Vylad's face brightened at the idea of sweet goodies.

"There's a bake sale going on??? How come I didn't know about this?" I asked, joining in on the conversation.

"Yeah! There's a magicks and witchcraft bale sale! So, I'm super stoked to try all kinds of pastries made with spells and magicks and stuff! They got magic Rice Krispie treats, magic cakes, magic brownies!"
