The two reached the tree, Link expecting to find [Y/N] there. However, upon reaching the tree, the warrior and princess found no one. Link walked around the tree then climbed it.

"Damn it!" The blonde exclaimed in frustration. He sat on a branch and leaned against the trunk. Tears began to well in his eyes as he held his head in his hands. Zelda looked at him from below, pity and sadness written on her features.

"Don't worry, Link. We'll find her," the princess assured her friend.

[Y/N]... I'm so sorry... I'm an asshole... Please...

Please be okay... As Link thought, his tears began to glide down his face, sobs escaping his lips.

~With Dark Link and [Y/N]~
The smoke encasing the two began to fade, revealing their new surroundings. They stood in a forest shielded from the sun by dark clouds. Fog enveloped the immediate area, limiting the range of sight. Apart from the tops of a few trees, the cobblestone path they stood on, and Dark Link in front of her, the only thing she could see was what appeared to be a large structure.

Without warning, [Y/N] found herself being pulled towards the building's doors. She didn't say anything. She didn't want to anger this doppelgänger of Link's. Dark Link pushed one of the double doors open with his left hand. They walked inside and the door shut itself again.

Inside, the air was clear, fog was nowhere to be found. The floor was a polished stone with a mahogany rug leading from the door to and up a flight of stairs. The walls were dark grey in color and garnished with a lit candelabra every now and then. The ceiling rose just a bit over two stories and was tinged to a charcoal grey. The only windows in the foyer were the two ones next to the door, one on either side, however, two black curtains were drawn in front of them.

"Come," Dark Link stated in a monotone manner. The girl's attention returned to the male. They had both stopped as she observed the the room. She gave a shallow nod to which he began to guide her again, this time up the stairs.

[Y/N] couldn't help but notice how well polished the railings were. The oblong supports were polished as well. Eventually the stairs came to a small landing which split the staircase into two directions, one to the left and one to the right, both leading upwards. On the landing stood two tall candle stands, the candles igniting as the two got closer.

The grey skinned male turned and headed up the left flight of stairs. After a moment, the pair reached the second floor, but the male continued forward. In order to not be left behind, [Y/N] stayed on Dark's heels.

Many doors littered both walls. Some were more intricate, most were a simple design. Every couple of doors a black banner hung from the walls. Windows had yet to be found in the long corridor.

Due to observing, the female ran into the shadowy male. He grabbed her hand as she stumbled backwards, making sure she wouldn't fall. Once she was fine, he let go and opened the door they stood in front of.

"In here," Dark stated, motioning of her to enter first. [Y/N] stared at him for a few seconds, hesitant, before stepping into the room. The male followed behind her, making sure to shut the door, which sat in the corner of the room.

He stood and watched as the [H/C] took in the room. Her eyes widened a bit. The room's walls were a tad lighter than the ones in the entrance room and hallway and had a white trim. The floor was a dark treated wood in a repeating mini triangle design. A large window was placed in the middle of the farthest wall, black curtains drawn. Against the right wall was a queen sized bed covered in dark [F/C] sheets and pillows. A dark grey canopy lay over it. A chest sat at the foot of the bed and dark wood nightstand was on either side. In the corner between the window and bed was a cabinet that held some trinkets. In the opposite corner sat a [F/C] love seat, ottoman, and a wood coffee table. On the table was a beautiful silver candelabra shaped to look like roses.

"This is for you," Dark stated. The female turned to look at him. Her eyes were widened slightly. "That is, if you choose to stay here."

[Y/N] glanced down for second. "Why?" she asked softly.

"Hm?"

She walked to the ottoman and sat down. Her gaze then returned to the male's. "Why are you doing this, for me of all people." She looked at her lap. "I've heard of you. From Link. How you terrorize and haunt him. Even Zelda has told me about how chaotic you are and even calls you a destructive demon."

She stopped her words when a sigh came from the dark being.

Dark moved deeper into the room. "Yes, I have done those things. But," he paused. Swiftly, he moved his legs to place himself in front of the female. "That has nothing to do with how I act towards you." Dark then sat on the loveseat next to the ottoman. "I know more about you than you do of me, all thanks to that asshole boyfriend of yours. As Link's counterpart, I can see what he does when I choose to, that's how I met you." He pointed a finger at the [H/C] as he crossed one leg over the other and propped his elbow on the arm rest. Their eyes locked once again, [Y/N] attempting to read where he was going with this information he was giving, and Dark simply being captivated by the curiosity in her eyes.

Refusing to break eye contact, the male continued, "When I first met you, I thought of you as something I could use against Link, as I stated before."

That statement made the female's brows knit. She went to open her mouth and scold the being but was quickly stopped.

"Although, over time, instead of remaining as a sort of weapon to use against him, you became," he paused, searching for the right words. "a person I care for." Dark had to be careful. He wanted to ease her into his words, his explanation, not be too abrupt and scare her.

"I started to find myself thinking of you when I wasn't observing you. The thought of trying to turn you against Link vanished." He looked at his lap. One of his hands gripped his knee, his knuckles turning white. "Then he began to treat you like you didn't matter. Like you were just a nuisance." He growled as those moments replayed in his head. "I no longer saw you smile. I no longer heard you laugh. You ceased to care about your health. You hardly slept and ate, and...... you began to hurt yourself." Dark snapped his head upwards. [Y/N] once again saw disgust in his flaming eyes. It wasn't for her. It was for Link.

The pale man stood up from the love seat. With his body trembling with rage, he stood in front of the female.

"I will never forgive him for hurting you." He leaned down so their eyes were level. The hero's counterpart made sure to keep his voice calm, despite the rage flowing through his veins for the blonde male. "You mean so much to me. I refuse to watch you be hurt by his stupidity for not loving you and I refuse to watch you be hurt by his carelessness." He grabbed her hands gently, rubbing the backs. "I love you, [Y/N]."

[Y/C] could not only feel it in Dark's words but also saw it in his eyes, he was telling the truth. He wasn't messing with her, playing with her feelings. His body practically radiated with his strong love for her. He wanted to protect her from everything. He wanted to see her smile again.

Dark couldn't hold himself back anymore. He felt his body lean forward. "You don't have to love me back. Just, get to know me. The real me, before you disregard my feelings."

Finished speaking, he closed the gap between their lips. Butterflies erupted in his stomach at the warm sensation of their lips touching. Reluctantly, he pulled away, spinning on his heel, and exiting the room. [Y/N] sat in silence, staring at the door. Her mind went blank. She tried to take a moment to process what just happened. Her cheeks were warm, as to be expected from being caught off guard from that kiss.

The destructive demon strode down the hall. Shadows generated at his feet, slowly pulsing, reacting to his anger. He stopped moving. Mentally, he called out for a redead. In mere seconds the creature rose from the floor and stood in front of the stronger being. Red orbs glared at the skin wrapped skeleton, causing it to cower.

"Keep an eye on the princess. Take others with you if need be," the male commanded. "She's as much to blame for hurting [Y/N] as Link is." No, the princess didn't treat the female the same way the hero did, but she didn't do anything to help either. That was equally as bad in his mind. With a nod, the redead vanished into the floor.
