[Y/N] sat back in the still surprisingly comfortable chair, setting her pencil down. She shook her hand; it was starting to cramp from how long she was writing. She let out a yawn. Sitting up and looking around, she found a large grandfather clock.

2:31 am

The female sat back once more. She had been there for what felt like only a half hour.

Her eyes glanced towards the papers in front of her. Sitting up, she grabbed the first one and began to reread it.

"[Y/N]?"

Looking up, said woman saw the man in black enter the large room.

Dark stopped at the end of a shelf. Leaning on it, he crossed his arms as a smirk bloomed on his face.

"You're still in here huh?" he questioned. "You've been in here for..." he paused, glancing at the clock. "About 4 hours." He then turned his attention back to the female at the desk.

He pushed himself off the chest and towards the female. "I knew you liked to write, but I didn't expect you to get so caught up in it."

The H/C felt her cheeks heat up.

"It... happens sometimes," she said with a nervous smile.

"Don't worry about it. But, it is late. You should get some sleep," Dark suggested.

[Y/N] nodded.

"You're right. Sorry for staying up so late." She looked down.

Dark's eyes widened. Why was she apologizing, especially for something so silly? Then it hit him.

He moved in front of the desk.

"Hey," he called out softly. "Look at me."

Slowly, the female looked up, still hesitant to look the man of shadows in the eyes.

"I am not Link," he began. "You needn't apologize for such silly things. As I said, this is your home now, if you wish to stay, which I hope you do. You're free to do what you wish here. But you're not a burden to me. And you won't ever be. Understand?"

[Y/N], now looking into the other's red eyes, felt her stomach flutter and her cheeks heat up once more.

She had only met the man a handful of hours ago, yet a feeling of trust overwhelmed her. The male, though seen as a monster by most, seemed like a long time friend to her. He seemed like someone she could depend on with all her life. It felt like how she used to be with Link, but maybe better.

She nodded her head. "I understand." She then muttered a small 'thank you' and stood up.

Dark smiled softly.

"Before you head to bed, would you possibly be hungry?" He asked.

"No, I'm-" suddenly a gurgling sound erupted from [Y/N]'s stomach.

Dark's smile grew. "Come, let's get you something to eat." He then waited for his companion to move. After she got up from her chair and stepped around the table, Dark began to walk towards the door, [Y/N] right behind him.

Opening the door, the antihero allowed the woman out first. Before stepping out and closing the doors, he snapped his finger and extinguished all the candles.

"The kitchen and dining room are downstairs on the right," the albino informed as they began the walk to the stairs. [Y/N] simply hummed in return.

As they walked, [Y/N] couldn't help but stare at the other's back. He resembled Link in looks, except for the color of his hair, skin, eyes, and clothing. She was sure that this man would be nothing but cruel and unkind towards her, like how Link always described he would be, but his friendly behavior was a surprising breath of fresh air.

She enjoyed how he talked to her like an equal. She also liked how he focused on her when she spoke or did something. She much rather enjoyed that than being ignored like she was with Link.

"Is there something particular you wish to eat?" Dark asked, looking over his shoulder.

"A small salad would be fine, if it's not too much trouble." [Y/N] responded.

"As I said, it's your home now. It's not trouble at all, especially if it's for you."

The H/C blushed a deep red. She was thankful that she was behind the man so he couldn't see her face.

"Lettuce, carrots, radishes, chicken, tomatoes, cheese, sunflower seeds?" Dark listed off salad ingredients.

"H-How did you...?" [Y/N] questioned, speechless.

The male smiled and opened his mouth to speak again, "I've watched you, remember?"

The female blushed harder. She forgot about that.

"Here we are," Dark stated.

[Y/N] finally realized they had traveled down the stairs and arrived at the dining room already.

"Sit down," the man said, pulling a chair out.

"Thanks," the other responded, sitting down in the chair. Dark then pushed her in.

"I'll be right back."

"O-Oh, okay."

With that, Dark went into another room.

About five minutes later, he came back with a small salad in hand. Coming to [Y/N]'s side, he sat the bowl in front of her. He then sat in the chair next to her.

As she ate, the albino watched her. Silently, he studied her face. He'd studied it many times through the eyes of his counterpart but in person, she was much more beautiful. Even the way she ate, he thought was beautiful. He just couldn't take his eyes off of her.

She was breath taking.

Finally looking up from her half eaten salad, she locked eyes with Dark. Realizing he'd been staring at her made her cheeks heat up. She quickly looked back down at her food.

Dark silently chuckled, finding her flushed face to be adorable.

"So...." [Y/N] began. She now lightly moved the salad around with her fork.

"Hm?"

"D-Do you cook?" she asked.

The male nodded, "Yes, I can cook. I don't really need to eat, but I do enjoy both cooking and eating. When I do wish to eat, I'd rather cook myself than trust the redead to do that task. I don't trust them around fire." He stated matter of factly.

[Y/N] looked at her companion with wide eyes.

"R-Redead?" she stuttered.

Dark sat back in the chair and crossed his legs.

"Don't worry, they know not to hurt you, or attempt to," he spoke. He lifted his right hand, shadowy smoke beginning to form. "They know that if they did," the shadows began to move and form the shape of a redead. "They'd die." As he said that he quickly closed his hand into a fist, crushing the shadow figure. "All my minions know that."
