The shadow figure opened his eyes. For a moment, he stayed in place. He inhaled deeply before releasing a heavy sigh. It felt good to get his anger out, weight seeming to lift off his shoulders. He exited the room but not before snapping his fingers and extinguishing the candelabras.

When he stepped out, his eyes landed on a female form. She was strolling down the hallway, obvious curiosity in her movements. With silent steps, Dark followed her. A few doors from the stairs is when she stopped. [Y/N] gazed at a double wide door, the frame swirling outwards at the corners. Rolling her eyes over the dark wooden door with silver embellishments, she felt intrigued.

"It's a library." Came from behind her. She flinched in surprise. Cautiously she turned around. Dark stood a couple of feet away from her, his hands behind his back.

"Oh," was [Y/N]'s soft response as she looked back at the door.

"You can go in," he stated, moving towards the door. The female stepped to the side allowing him to turn the door knob. The albino man pushed the large pieces of wood inward, then stepped back to allow his companion to enter.

Dark followed her inside the pitch black room. He gave a quick snap of his fingers. Gradually, the room brightened as candelabras, one by one, were lit.

[Y/N] stood, mesmerized by the rows of mahogany shelves filled to the brim with leather bound books. She moved through the first aisle, her fingers gliding along the edge of a shelf. She was careful not touch any of the books, scared that, if she touched one, the spine would disintegrate. There was no way to tell how old each one was, but she figured some were ancient based on the tattered covers. Despite looking old, there wasn't a speck of dust on anything.

"There's over 100,000 reading articles in here," Dark informed as he followed behind her. [Y/N] stopped and turned towards him. That amount equals to a generous sized community library.

"Articles?" she asked, unable to hide her curious nature. The male nodded.

"There's not just books. It also contains maps, current and old, of geography, climate, population," he continued to move down the aisle towards the center of the room. The sound of the female's following steps made him internally smile. "there's sheet music, blueprints, scrolls, medical pieces, and other things," he spoke like it was no big deal.

They now stood in a reading nook in the middle of the room. A large desk and chair sat by a few living chairs and a couch. A small side table sat here and there.

"You're welcome in here anytime you'd like," Dark informed, leaning against the desk. If he remembered correctly, the [h/c]-ette enjoyed not only reading but writing as well. Her curious and inquiring mind was one of the things that drew Dark to her. She was always thinking, questioning the things around her.

[Y/N] traveled around the room. Her eyes reading the labels each row and section had. The red eyes following her form didn't go unnoticed. They just went to the back of her mind. She then stopped when her eyes landed on a group of books that sported the triforce.

"May I... ask you a question?" she wondered. [Y/N] didn't look at the man she was speaking to, still feeling slightly uncomfortable about the situation.

"Of course," Dark responded. "What is it?"

It became silent. [Y/N] debated with herself whether or not to ask the question in her mind. On one hand, she was curious, about how the pale skinned male would react and, if he did answer, what the answer would be. On the other hand, she was weary at the thought of him possibly reacting badly and and angering him. There was only one way to find out.

"The triforce," the female spoke. "Are you represented on it? You're Link's counterpart. So, are you also represented by the triangle of courage?"

The sound of shuffling prompted her to turn her head in Dark's direction. He had stopped leaning on the desk and was now opening its drawer. Pulling out a few pieces of paper and a handful of writing utensils, he sat them down.

"It'll be easier for me to show you than just explaining through words," Dark mentioned, glancing at his companion. [Y/N] gave a nod and joined him at the desk. He moved his chair over some before scooting a chair over for her sit in. "Take a seat." He said, motioning to the chair.

"Thank you," [Y/N] muttered as she sat down. Dark then sat in his chair and picked up a pencil.

He was filled with joy at the fact that the female was open to conversing with him, treating him like a normal person, not an enemy. She clearly didn't seem to feel like she was a prisoner, which she wasn't.

He drew the triforce in the middle of the page. Picking up a red pen, he wrote in the top triangle:
Fire
Din
Power
Ganon

With blue, he wrote in the left triangle:
Water
Nayru
Wisdom
Zelda

With green, he wrote in the right triangle:
Wind
Farore
Courage
Link

"This should be common knowledge, correct?" Dark asked. [Y/N] nodded. He then picked up the pencil and drew an upside down triangle underneath the triforce, leaving room between the two. "Do you know what this triangle represents?"

"No," she responded. "that's not you is it?"

"No, it's not." He then wrote a name in the shape.

"Hylia? As in the goddess?" [Y/N] asked. "Why would she have a triangle and not be in the middle?"

Dark smiled softly before writing in the space in the middle of the triforce.

"Because that's where I am," he said. "I represent fear. Not just Link's, but Zelda's and Ganon's as well. For Link, I represent his biggest obstacle, himself, his doubts about himself and his emotions getting the better of him. For Zelda, I represent what Link could become if taken over by anger, and overwhelming pressure along with the idea of what could happen if he switched sides and joined Ganon. Then for Ganon, I represent Link, his biggest enemy, the person who could cause his downfall."

The room fell silent.

"I don't think that, you or your role, are a bad thing," the female spoke her thoughts. Without being asked to, she explained the words that just left her mouth. If she didn't get her full idea out, it would eat at her. "Fear is something that pushes a person, in this case, to become stronger, for better or worse. You're not a bad person. You're like everyone else, a player on the battlefield, possibly the most important player. You're not only everyone's biggest enemy, but their biggest ally too. If someone attempted to create a statue of the triforce, with only the three triangles, they'd fail. Without anything holding them together, it would collapse. The sculptor would need to give the triforce a thick sturdy outline and inline, or fill the entire middle in. Cause fear isn't just on the inside, it's on the outside as well, pushing a person towards their fears but also making sure one doesn't truly run from them."

[Y/N] was always a person who thought of things without picking a side, majority of the time.

The man of darkness stood, flabbergasted by her words, her analysis of his role. He felt his heartbeat speed up. It was practically ringing in his ears. This woman, she truly was special. No one had ever said anything remotely as nice as what she said to him. She just complimented a being that most considered evil, and she did it without hesitation or batting an eye. She even went as far as to say that he isn't evil.

If only she knew what exactly that did to him.

If only he knew, what he would do for her.
