Chapter 10

Earlier that day: Y/N's POV

Once again, all of the pillars were knelt before master Ubuyashiki. The twins guided him to his usual sitting position and sat down again in front of us, the 12th time this month.
"Hello my children. How are you all today?" Master asked us all. Everybody stayed silent until Sanemi answered for us. "We are doing alright. I feel we are all stressed with finding the insect pillar, though."
"Ah yes, Shinobu." Oyakata-sama sighed sorrowfully. "I know we all care deeply for our fellow hashira. However, I have came to a decision." Everybody looked at him expectantly, Kanae obviously dreading the next words to leave his mouth.
"I have decided, in a week's time, all Hashira patrols ordered by me will be suspended if Miss Kocho is not found."

The pillars were shocked at this revelation, Kanae failing to hide her growing anger. "May we know why, Master?" The flower pillar asked, venom laced in her tone.
"I have decided that because we are losing more and more lower rank demon slayers, we cannot afford to be spending every night loss a Hashira." He explained. "Apart from this, you are able to search for her in your own time. I hope you can respect my decision, it is not easy letting one of my dearest children go un- searched for. However the growing numbers of slayer losses is starting to scare me."

The eldest butterfly sibling controlled her anger, although her eyes were twitching: tics appearing all over her forehead.
"Dismissed. I'm again, very sorry." The meeting was ended. As everybody stood up, heads facing the floor, I cautiously went over to Kanae.
"Excuse me..Kanae-san?" I approached either a polite greeting. Kanae exhaled deeply and turned to me.
"Yes, Y/N? What do you need." She replied, trying to keep her emotions under management.
"I was just going to ask if you were..okay? I understand those words are hurtful to hear." I replied softly, sympathy clear in my facial expression. Her hard gaze softened as she replied.

"Ah yes thank you. Also, I wish you luck in your patrol tonight." She smiled.
"I will find her. I won't stop until I do." Determination seeping from my words.
"May I ask, you only knew my sister for 2 days before, you know. I see you care for her a lot." Her hand reached my shoulder. I was taken aback by this but kept my expression under control.
"Except from you and Mitsuri, Shinobu has been so kind towards me without even knowing what I'm actually like. Her presence is..calming I have to admit. The first night I stayed in the Butterfly Mansion, when you know I fell asleep on her, it was like nothing bad had ever happened to me. I felt.. I don't know..safe maybe? I'm not sure but I know I would do anything to get her back." I answered. My reply came out so fluently, straight from my heart.

Kanae's eyes widened for a split second, but then returned to being the soft, understanding shape they once were.
"I trust you to bring her back to us."
