Y/N's POV:

"Y/N! Remember it is your turn to be with Shinobu!" Kanae reminded me. I started walking to the butterfly's room. It has been a week since she has been found: so far there has been no emotion shown except from when she first arrived.

It was breaking my heart seeing Shinobu in so much pain but I can't do anything. It may trigger bad memories and we all agreed we shouldn't do that. I had reached the door and slowly twisted the handle. Shinobu was sat at the window peering out into the training grounds where Kanao and Tanjiro were.

"Hey Shinobu. You feeling alright?" I tried not to scare her, gladly she wasn't. She turned around and nodded at me. I could see whenever she was around people she liked her eyes would soften, but that was the only bit of emotion on her consistently blank face. Even Giyu was showing more emotion!

"So, watching Kanao?" I asked, trying to ease the not comfortable silence but also not awkward.
Her eyesight returned to the outside area and she shook her head up and down, a sign of agreement.
"Also before I forget, Kanae wanted me to ask you what you wanted to eat later on?"

She picked up her pen and paper and wrote, 'Ginger Tsukidani' . Typical Shinobu. I laughed , "Of course, it is your favourite after all." I folded the paper and stuffed it into the pocket of my uniform.
"I'll tell her when I leave."
We both sat in a comfortable silence, each of our eyes observing the outside area.

Time Skip : They were literally silent the whole time.

"Hey, I gotta get going now. It's been an hour." I broke the silence. It was getting darker outside, showing me that the time I needed to be with her has passed. "Need anything?"
She shook her head side to side. I acknowledged this and began to walk off. However, two steps after leaving my chair, I felt a small hand grab my wrist. I looked over my shoulder, confused. This was new.

"Stay." She whispered. I was shocked. I almost cried out of joy; her first words since she came back. I snapped back to reality and replied to her, "Alright." I smiled gently at her, but was soon pulled onto her bed and placed underneath her. She laid her head down on my chest and I felt a tinge of warmth rush to my cheeks.

I stroked her hair with my left hand as I cautiously put my right hand on her back. Thankfully, she allowed me since she didn't flinch or start crying. In a matter of minutes, I heard light snores fill the room. She must be tired huh. I examined her face properly for the first time in awhile.

Dark eye bags grew under her dull purple orbs, indicating she hadn't been getting much sleep. An eyepatch covered her right eye: where there was a big, purple bruise surrounding it. I felt guilty, guilty because I could have prevented this if I had kept a closer eye on her. Sooner or later I would find the person who did this, and punish him for all of the pain he put Shinobu through.

Overall, her demeanour was peaceful. I kept playing with her hair until I also drifted off. I'm glad she was comfortable now. This was a step forward into bringing her usual self back.
