Uh..... Hello?😅
It's been literal years. 5 to be exact...
I wanted to say... I will never stop obsessing over Merlin. I've recently fallen back into the Merlin rabbithole and have read fantastic new fanfics as of late. That got me back into writing... It got me thinking about Broken Crown aka. this fanfic, and I felt super nostalgic. I literally never use Wattpad anymore, I'm on AO3 (Archive of our own) and have been for years, but I got to reading it and upon doing that, I realized I still have a soft spot for this story.
Allow me to share that with you.
The first time I thought of this idea, I was just about to turn 15 years old. I was sitting in my hotelroom in Pierrefonds, staring out the window and taking in the view of the castle of Camelot. One of the biggest moments of my life, truly. And I got to writing. Terribly, at that, I was 14 and with English not being my native language lmao. But I wrote it, and I loved it. Back then, the story was called Black Rose. Enter 2018, a month before turning 17, and I decided to revisit the story over summerbreak. My english was better, my imagination was brighter and I had a lot of motivation to research stuff that would make the story make sense historically. I loved every second of writing it, but as time passed, I started burning myself out a little bit and I was 100% convinced what I wrote was super bad and dragged out. I ended up completely abandoning it, having lost all faith in my writing abilities. Also, life happened lol. Upon reading it, I see a lot of thing I would want to change (for example not doing Gwaine so dirty, honey deserves better wtf😭) and things I would like to add. I also now have better art skills and would make killer cover art for this😂
So, yeah, it's 2024, I'm 23 and although I'm a bit rusty in my writing skills, I'm currently working on a merthur oneshot and am quite happy with my writing despite myself. My adhd brain, atm, thinks it would be a fantastic idea to revisit this fic again, properly this time. Considering I'm actually still quite satisfied with some of my writing here, I'd probably just rewrite the current storyline, + - necessary changes here and there. I read all of the comments poeple have left here, and I was quite literally kicking my feet. Is ANYONE still here?😂 would you be interested in an updated, hopefully better version of this story?
