05 Tragedy

My horse was steadily galloping on the rubble ground, and as I was being cautious of my surroundings, I was already on my third Titan kill. I looked up to see another deformed-looking Titan waddling towards me.

In an instant, I rose up and used my ODM gear to attach it to several branches as I glided across the air. Quickly, I attached one of my wires to the nape of the Titan in hopes of getting close, and I used my sword and aggressively slashed it against the nape of the neck as the skin sliced open, which instantly splattered me with Titan blood where the droplets landed onto my face.

"Nasty," I muttered, but luckily the blood slowly started evaporating into the thin air until it was no longer visible on my skin.
I took notice of a tree right next to me and steadily landed on it. I then decided to look underneath me, staying alert for any person nearby who I could recognize.

However, I suddenly saw a glimpse of a figure in the distance being surrounded by titans, which seemed to be dropping in a blink of an eye as the person slayed them. But little did they realize that another titan was heading towards them while they were battling the rest of the other titans. And I managed to decipher that petite figure to be my cousin, Captain Levi.

Although I didn't have enough fuel left to be using my ODM gear, I didn't want to risk losing the only other person closest to me, despite us barely having time together due to his tight schedule. I jumped off the branches of the tree and rapidly swung from branch to branch, tree to tree, as I yelled out, "Levi, look behind you.".

Without hesitating, I quickly attached my ODM gear to the gigantic Titan, which ended up not attaching to the nape of the neck but to the arm. Shit, I fucked up. That was the only thing I thought of as the Titan grabbed hold of the wire that was attached to my ODM gear and aggressively threw me towards the tree.

"(Y/NNNN)!" I heard Levi yell out as I could see him quickly slay the Titan and quickly tried to come to me. Right before I could say anything my body harshly collided with the tree before I lost consciousness and collapsed.

All I could feel and see was just darkness; I could feel its presence all around me. Death felt as if it were creeping towards me. It felt like my soul was leaving my body. If you had asked me then why I'd put my life on the line to save Levi, the truth is that if the titan were to inflict pain on him, I wouldn't be able to bear it. During my stay in the underground, Levi has always been with me, no matter what, always being there to protect me from danger. He made me understand that my life was worth living.

If he were to be gone forever,. Wouldn't my life be meaningless?. Would I just wither away into that pit of darkness again? Would I?

Levis POV

"Y/NNNN!" I yelled as I tried to get her after seeing her body get tossed towards the tree. I could feel my heart beating too quickly and my adrenaline surging at the same rate, going back to when I lost the two I vowed to protect. I glided from tree to tree using my ODM gear, hoping that I could make it in time.

Right before I almost made it, a loud thud was made. I tilted my head to see (y/n)'s unconscious body on the ground. With blood dripping everywhere. I froze; I couldn't comprehend it all. This couldn't be my reality. I failed yet again.

Third Person

All of a sudden, the Captain felt a feeling he hadn't felt in a long time since then. A feeling of despair rose deep within him, which broke the stoic facial expression he held on his face for so long. (Y/N) was the only family he had left, yet he constantly pushed her away despite her always trying to get close to him. A massive soar of wind and rain came gushing down as it swayed his black dark hair from side to side across his face.

This survivors guilt flooded in him. "yet I failed yet again; I still wonder if this is even worth (y/n)'s and the fallen comrades lives," he quivered. "Were their deaths worth it?". Despite Levi hating the dirt, he kneeled down on the muddy ground, taking a glance at Y/N's unconscious body. I'm hoping for at least a sign of life.

"Please," he said as he reached his fingers out towards the (h/c) neck and checked her pulse. And when he did, his eyes widened. "She has a pulse; she's alive," he tells himself. Without even wasting time, he grabbed onto (y/n)'s body and had a firm hold on her as he hurriedly rushed back in hopes of providing her with medical care.

In hearing of the bad news, Eren Jaeger quickly hurried to the infirmary room (y/n) where she was currently staying at after the mission with no hesitation. When he arrived outside of the room, he noticed Captain Levi exiting the room (y/n) was in, so he hid for a second before Levi's figure disappeared. He entered in to see the unconscious body. The sight of her fragile and unconscious body stung his heart so badly. He walked up towards her and grabbed her hand to clarify that she was still alive
