Ownership (n.)
the act of possessing something entirely

"Honey... I'm really sorry, but I have to go," Darlene sighed as she set her phone down after speaking with her boss.
"What? Why?" (Y/N) questioned in worry as she paused the movie that they had been watching, disappointment washing through her as she watched her mother get up and get ready to leave. "Did something happen?"
"Yes, it seems someone broke into the shop and not enough people are there to cover that."
"That's awful... do you have to go?"
"Yes... I love you, (Y/N), and I'll see you in a couple hours," Darlene waved with a smile as she closed and locked the door behind her.
Sighing in defeat, (Y/N) clicked the TV off and moved the the bowl of popcorn from her lap to the small coffee table in front of her so she could stand, not in the mood anymore to stay downstairs alone so late at night. Ascending the stairs to her room after pouring herself a glass of water, she flicked her lights on and collapsed onto her bed.
I can't believe someone broke in...
But my question is: why would they bother to steal from a small clothing store? My mom makes excellent clothes... but they aren't name brands.
So...
Why take them?
Breathing in deeply, she glanced to the side and eyed her phone for a second before reaching out to grab it. Unlocking the device, her eyebrows raised when seeing a message from an unknown number. Settling comfortably onto her bed with pillows propping her up, she then slid the text open and almost retched when seeing the photo she was sent, her phone dropping from her fingers in shock.
What...
What the hell is that!?
Swallowing thickly, her nostrils flaring as she felt the buildup of tears, (Y/N) hesitantly picked her phone back up again and had to bite her tongue to stop herself from gasping.
Jasmine... and Angelina...
The image of their lifeless bodies practically burned itself into her eyes, the details of their dried blood, of their slit throats, and the dead sheen to their eyes bored itself into her brain, itching and crawling in like hundreds upon hundreds of insects to spread like a disease. The mockery of how Jasmine and Angelina had been killed was obvious in the picture, and so clearly what their murderer wanted to present.
It was sickening.
(Y/N)'s disgust then morphed into fear, her throat going dry as she froze, chills creeping up her spine. Her heart was pounding so loudly in her chest that it thrummed in her ears, her breathing came out in short, shallow gasps.
The person who sent this...
What if they're here?
Lunging off her bed to lock her window and then close the blinds, she slowly backed up in terror. All blood then drained from her face when recalling how often Darlene forgot to lock the front door. Not only that, but there were possibly several unlocked windows in the house along with the patio door that led out to the backyard. Speeding downstairs, (Y/N) saw that the front door indeed wasn't locked and quickly bolted it, doing the same for all the windows whilst making sure to close the blinds as well before grabbing a knife from the kitchen for comfort.
Unknown to her, the person who had sent the picture was already inside, amused.
She's so adorable...
She thinks that doing all of this will keep her safe from me when in reality, the only safe place is with me... by my side... forever.
Smiling to himself, Cage's eyes widened when he saw (Y/N) approach the room he was in, quietly hiding inside the hallway's closet as she checked the rest of the house. Backing up, (Y/N) gently set herself back onto the couch to wait until Darlene returned to the apartment, her eyes wide while small tremors wracked her body.
This...
I don't know what to do...
Gripping her arms tightly to her body, she stared at a spot on the floor, her vision blurring as her mind took her elsewhere. Reaching out for the bowl of popcorn in hopes of eating some comfort food, puzzlement befell her when her hand only grabbed air, looking up and spotting it residing not on the table, but on the floor spilled.
That wasn't where she left the bowl.
Someone... is here.
Jumping up quickly, (Y/N) grabbed her phone and knife before lunging forward to try and run out the door. Unfortunately, no sooner than she had moved to escape, a strong figure snuck up behind her and twisted both weapon and device out of her hold.
"Let me go!" She screamed, her legs thrashing in hopes of getting her attacker to release her.
"No, thank you~" a familiar voiced drawled as an arm twined itself around her waist while the other was kept busy restraining her hands, the girl turning to spot Cage standing above her, her very expression twisting into one of disbelief and horror. "I'd much rather keep you in this position... and after seeing how you can make such a terrified expression, it only makes me that much more turned on."
(Y/N) stiffened at the feeling of a tongue sliding itself up her ear, the warmth of the muscle against her cool skin making her shiver in disgust, then yelling out in hopes that the neighbors could hear her and call for help, "Help! Someone help!"
"Oh, they can't hear you," Cage laughed as his grip on her body tightened
"Wha— Who—?"
"Your neighbors. They should be heavily sedated by now."
Eyes widening by what Cage's words meant, (Y/N) felt her body go limp when everything finally clicked into place: Darlene's store being broken in to that made her have to leave, Jasmine and Angelina being killed, the unlocked door that she now remembered Darlene had locked.
"Cage..." she uttered, aghast.
"Yes, (Y/N)?" He hummed out, his voice laced with a sick kind of joy.
"Let me go..."
"I can't do that."
(Y/N) gasped when feeling a prick of a needle on her neck that made everything instantly go hazy before receding into darkness, the last thing she saw being Cage's flushed expression.
"Oh... I really love it when you beg."
