"Good evening everyone!" I smiled into the mic and the crowd roared.

"We are Midnight Harmony we hope you enjoy our debut!"

I nodded and Bakugo started with the drums.

Did someone you know ever turn on a dime
From an angel right into a monster?
You still wanna stay, wanna help, wanna heal
Only so much that your love can offer

Why did I try for as long as I did?
Back on the ropes when I knew I should quit
Where do I run? 'Cause I've got no more blood left to bleed

I looked back, I was never normally this nervous but this was different. I was singing songs that meant something to me. I met Bakugos gaze. He must have seen my nervous look because he nodded. I turned back to the crowd.

I gotta put you behind me
With all the pain that you caused
I barely made it out fighting
You drained all the life from my love
Sometimes in moments of weakness
I want you back in my arms
But all of the bruises remind me
The past is where you belong

The past is where you belong
Where you belong

I put everything into the chorus, it was strange not hearing the crowd sing back. But I closed my eyes and pushed on, We had to make it past the first round.

You try to protect and you always defend
And even when they got red-handed
But all that you get for your purest intentions
Is your heart wrapped up in a bandage?

How many tears do my eyes have to make?
How many years is it gonna take?
Where do I run so that I make it out in one piece?

I gotta put you behind me
With all the pain that you caused
I barely made it out fighting
You drained all the life from my love
Sometimes in moments of weakness
I want you back in my arms
But all of the bruises remind me
The past is where you belong

The past is where you belong
Where you belong

I gotta put you behind me
With all the pain that you caused
'Cause all of the bruises remind me
The past is where you belong
The past is where you belong

The stage lights dimmed slightly as I finished the final notes of our debut song, "Where you Belong."

The roar of the crowd was deafening, a wave of sound that seemed to carry both their approval and their energy. It was a relief to see that our performance had struck a chord with them.

I took a deep breath, my chest still heaving from the intensity of the song. The applause and cheers from our fans were incredibly uplifting. Their enthusiasm was like a balm for the nervous energy that had been buzzing through me.

"WE LOVE YOU MIDNIGHT HARMONY!" someone shouted from the crowd, and the chant was picked up by others.

"KEEP GOING DEKU!"

I felt a swell of pride and relief. Our debut had gone well, and the response from the audience was more than I could have hoped for.

One of the judges, a stern-looking woman with sharp eyes, stepped forward with a microphone.

"I know this isn't very formal, but Deku, do you mind walking us through the song you just sang?"

I nodded, my heart racing with a mix of excitement and nervousness.

"Of course," I said, my voice steady despite the adrenaline still coursing through me.

I took a deep breath before continuing. "The song, 'Where you Belong,' is deeply personal to me. My father walked out on my mother and me around the time I started my career as an idol. He wasn't a very good man and still isn't."

A murmur of sympathy rippled through the audience, and I could see several people nodding in understanding.

"And why didn't you sing songs like this during your solo career?" another judge asked, leaning forward with interest.

I hesitated for a moment, searching for the right words. "Well, I figured no one cared about how I was mentally. I thought idols had to be strong and maintain a facade of perfection."

As the words left my mouth, a wave of disbelieving shouts came from the crowd.

It was as if they were expressing their frustration that I hadn't been more open about my struggles earlier. I couldn't quite make out all the words, but the sentiment was clear: they wished I had been more honest from the start.

"But I see now that it wasn't helping me. It was only isolating me further," I continued, my voice gaining strength. "So, I started writing songs that showcase who I am as a person. I hoped that by sharing my true self, I could help others feel less alone, and maybe even inspire them to reach out for help if they need it."

The audience's response shifted from frustration to overwhelming support.

The cheers grew louder, the applause more enthusiastic. I could see tears in some of their eyes, reflecting the raw emotion of the song.

I glanced at my bandmates—Bakugo, Kami, Mina, and Kiri—standing behind me. Their faces were filled with pride and solidarity, and I could feel their support even in this moment of vulnerability.

The judge who had first spoken nodded, her expression softening. "Thank you for sharing that, Deku. It takes courage to be so open about your personal experiences. Your music has clearly touched many hearts."

Another judge chimed in, "It's evident that Midnight Harmony is more than just a band. You're bringing something genuine and heartfelt to the table. That's what sets you apart."

The crowd erupted in cheers again, their enthusiasm a powerful reminder of why we were here. We weren't just performing; we were connecting with people on a deep level, sharing our stories through our music.

As we finished the random Q&A session the judges started, I felt a rush of gratitude towards everyone who had come to support us.

The positive energy was invigorating, and I could sense that the judges and the audience had truly embraced what we had to offer.

"We've got this," Kiri said softly, placing a reassuring hand on my shoulder as we walked off stage. His words were a comforting anchor amidst the whirlwind of emotions.

Mina grinned, her eyes sparkling. "That was amazing, Mido. We nailed it!"

Kami gave me an encouraging nod. "You were incredible out there. We're going to make a real impact."

Bakugo, usually more reserved, gave a rare, approving smile. "You did good, Deku. Real good."

We huddled together, taking a moment to soak in the energy and camaraderie.

The competition was far from over, but for now, we had made a strong impression. Our music had resonated with people, and that was all we could ask for.

As we made our way backstage, the adrenaline still buzzing through me, I glanced at Aizawa, who was standing to the side, watching with a proud expression.

"You did well," he said as we approached. "Keep this momentum going. This is only the beginning."

I smiled, feeling a renewed sense of purpose. "Thank you, Aizawa. We won't let you down."

With our spirits high and our determination set, we prepared for the rest of the competition. Midnight Harmony had made its mark, and we were ready to continue our journey, no matter what challenges lay ahead.
