We assembled on the stage huddled together. For some reason I was being used as a human shield by Kami, Mina, and Kiri.
"Please put your hands together for our lovely judges!" Mic yelled. (President Mic is the host)
Midnight, Nezu and Endeavour nodded to the crowd.
"And of course our bands that played!!!"
The crowd screamed.
"Can Deku and Copycat come here real quick" Mic waved to a spot beside him with a large grin.
I sighed and stode forwards smiling at the crowd and standing next to Momona.
"If I hadn't had seen both of your names on the list there was no way I would believe that not only Copycat the number 2 Idol in Japan but THE Deku number 1 in Japn was going to be here tonight. I would have said they where delusional." Mic said nodding along with what he said.
One of the stage hands raced forwards and gave us microphones.
"It's an honour to be here tonight Mic" I smiled.
The crowd yelled as I spoke and I chukkled.
"So you both had a rivally in your solo careers, can we expect to see it in this new course as well?" Mic asked almost exictedly.
"There is no rivally between us, That would mean I see Deku as a threat and why would I be threatened by an Idol whos name litterally means useless." Momona grinned at me and although most of the audience booed there were still some who laughed.
"Momona, If you really ment that you wouldn't have tried insulting me" I looked at him and shook my head disappointedly and the crowd laughed."BURN!!" Mic laughed and Momona turned an embarressed shade of red.
"Anyway Deku I would love and autograph at the end of this so please stick around, Now to the announcments!!"
I smiled and nodded waving to the crowd as I handed back the mic to the stage hand that raced for it.
I walked back to the band meeting each of there gazes as the once more hid behind me.
"As you know from the 35 bands that played today only 5 will move on" Mic explained.
"We knew that?" Kami whispered behind me tugging my shirt like a child.
"Yes Kami" I say softly eyes glued forwards.
"Idiot" Kacchan huffed moving to stand beside me.
We were silent as the judges finalised all the positions and handed the paper to Mic who returned to the stage.
"Ok here they are. Midnight Harmony, Eclipse..." Mic contiuned raddling off names as I sighed in relief.
As soon as Mic called out our band's name, "Midnight Harmony," my heart skipped a beat, and the world seemed to slow down for a moment. The crowd erupted into cheers, but all I could hear was the pounding in my chest. We did it. We actually did it.
Kami was the first to react, practically leaping onto my back with a shout of joy.
"We did it! We're in the semifinals!" He was grinning so wide that I was sure his face would hurt later.Mina grabbed my arm, pulling me into a tight hug, her pink hair bouncing with excitement. "I knew we could do it! We totally nailed it out there!"
Kiri joined in, his usual confident smile even broader. "Man, that was awesome! We're one step closer to the finals!"
I laughed, feeling the tension finally melt away.
We'd worked so hard for this moment, and it felt incredible to be recognized. I turned to face them, my smile matching theirs. "Yeah, we really did it. I'm so proud of you guys."Kacchan, who had been standing off to the side, stepped forward, his expression a mixture of pride and something softer.
He gave a small nod, his sharp eyes meeting mine. "Tch. I told you we'd make it. Now let's not screw it up in the semifinals."His words were gruff, but I could see the way his eyes softened just a little, a silent acknowledgment of our hard work. It was the closest thing to a heartfelt compliment I was going to get from him, and it meant the world.
Kami's excitement was contagious as he did his little dance. "We should celebrate! Like, right now! How about we hit up that café down the street? First round of coffee is on me!"
I couldn't help but laugh, shaking my head. "You know what, Kami? I'll take care of it. My treat."
Kami blinked, then grinned even wider. "Oh right, I forgot you're loaded, Deku! Fine by me!"
Mina giggled. "I should've known you'd swoop in like that. But hey, free cake, I'm not complaining."
Kiri chuckled, giving me a thumbs-up. "Thanks, man! You really know how to celebrate in style."
I smiled, feeling the warmth of their friendship surrounding me. "Anything for you guys. You've earned it."
As we started making plans, I felt Kacchan's hand on my shoulder, grounding me amidst the excitement. I looked over at him, his intense gaze locking with mine.
"You did good out there," he said quietly, his voice just loud enough for me to hear over the crowd.
I felt my face heat up, a small smile tugging at my lips. "Thanks, Kacchan. You too."
He huffed, his expression softening further. "Don't let it go to your head, nerd."
But there was no bite to his words, just a warmth that made my heart flutter. I knew that beneath all his bluster, he was proud of what we'd accomplished together.
"Wouldn't dream of it," I teased, nudging him lightly with my shoulder.
The others were already heading off the stage, and I motioned for Kacchan to follow.
He hesitated for a second, then fell in step beside me, his hand brushing against mine. It was a small gesture, but it was enough to make my heart skip a beat again. As we walked off the stage and into the bustling backstage area, I couldn't help but feel like everything was falling into place.
I grinned and messaged my mom that we had made it to the semis and she was estatic telling me how she watched the live stream, and that made me smile wider.
I was doing it mum, I m not feel as lonely anymore.
